I am testing a Blackmagic SDI capture card with Vmix 19. Please note the card is the basic capture card

What does no error but black screen mean during input select using camera - please note I have read the knowledge base and the information provided still does not solve my issue
http://www.vmix.com/know...-using-a-blackmagic-card

The following is my setting in the Blackmagic Preferences setup screen in media express
Project Setting:
Project Video Format: 1080p30
Capture File Format: AVI 10-bit YUV I also tried AVI Motion JPEG
I am able to capture and playback the stream in Media Express for above (+ all) settings settings

Playback in VLC
The captured file plays correctly in VLC
under codec this is what I see
Stream 0
Type: Video
Codec: 10-bit 4:2:2 Component YCbCr (v210) (for AVI Motion JPEG I get Motion Jpeg Video)
Resolution: 1920x1088
Display Resolution: 1920x1080
Frame Rate: 30
Decoded Format: Planar 4:2:2 YUV 10-bit LE (for AVI Motion I get: Planar 4:2:2 YUV Full Scale)

Stream 1
Type: Audio
Codec: PCMS24 LE (araw)
Channels: Stereo
Bits per sample: 32

VLC is able to play recorded streams and the media codec displays the correct setting set in media express

Add input in Vmix
Select Camera as input

the following is the default before making choices
Camera: blank
Input : blank
Resolution : 1920x1080
Frame rate: NTSC30p

Video format: default
Audio device built-in audio
Audio input: default blanked out
Audio format

The following are my choices
if I select
Camera as Decklink SDI 1
Input as SDI
Resolution as 1920x1080
Frame rate: NTSC30p

I have only 3 video format options
default
UYVY
RGB32

if I select default I get no error message but the screen is black

if I select UYVY I get no error message but the screen is black

if I select RGB32 I get this error
AddNewInput
Selected Video Format is not supported by this device: bmdModeHD1080p30
Error HRESULT E_FAIL has been returned from a call to a COM component.

If I enable legacy, I see the following options

Decklink SDI1
Sample Input
Blackmagic WDM Cature (***shows as legacy device)
Decklink Video capture (*** shows as legacy device)

Decklink SDI and Sample Input have only 3 options under Video format: default, UYVY and RGB32
all 3 options work for sample input but black screen,
default and UYVY work for Decklink SDI1 but RGB32 gives an error

Blackmagic WDM Capture
for AVI 10-bit YUV

Blackmagic WDM option

the error message dialog box shows
AddNewInput.The following are supported:
***
720x486 Unknown (417083) UYVY
720x486 Unknown (417083) v210
720x486 NTSC 29.97p UYVY
720x486 NTSC 29.97p v210
720x576 PAL 25p UYVY
720x576 PAL 25p v210
1280x720 PAL 50p HDYC
1280x720 PAL 50p v210
1280x720 NTSC 59.94p HDYC
1280x720 NTSC 59.94p v210
1280x720 Unknown (166667) HDYC
1280x720 Unknown (166667) v210
1920x1080 PAL 25p HDYC
1920x1080 PAL 25p v210
1920x1080 NTSC 29.97p HDYC
1920x1080 NTSC 29.97p v210
1920x1080 NTSC 30p HDYC
1920x1080 NTSC 30p v210
1920x1080 Unknown (417083) HDYC
1920x1080 Unknown (417083) v210
1920x1080 Unknown (416667) HDYC
1920x1080 Unknown (416667) v210

Unspecified error
***

However in the input form only options for NTSC30p 1920x1080 is HDYC, v210 is not listed
the form display is different from the error messages dialog box! and even HDYC gives no error but screen is black!

Decklink Video capture option
input form does not show v210
none of the options listed in the error dialog box shows any video. the list is missing v210 in the input form

Question is why are some of the content of the error message dialog box, like v210 not showing up in the input video format field?

I have tested all for input options for Sample Input, Decklink SDI1 and the other two options labeled as legacy devices - Decklink Video Capture and Blackmagic WDM Capture
For the video format options that do not give an error the screens are still blank. Have tested for NTSC29.97p and NTSC30p and I get the same results

Does Vmix 19 support the original Decklink SDI card??? My blackmabic driver is 10.5

Hi

What does your camera output? Interlaced or Progressive output? 29.97 or 30p? Or 59.94i? or 60i?

Which project settings for vMix did you initially choose?

Hi,
settings in Control panel for Blackmagic design card panel need to be set like camera output and also in vMix. If that is correct try with drivers. If you installed new drivers try to install few versions before and than test. If it works just update drivers when you get notification for update. But its not neccessary if it works

I had problems like this and older drivers were solution

Best regards

As suggested by @Siroki, I downgraded the Blackmagic card's driver to the oldest available on the blackmagic website and that did the trick.

The video now shows up in Vmix

Thanks to all who suggested checks

Very quick you will get notificatiion that your driver is available for update, pop up window will appear. How I can remember I updated driver on that way and everything was ok ;)
