Hi fellow vMixers...
Yesterday I had to do a livestream of a concert for a band and picture wise everything was perfect. But we had huge problems with the audio output via a Blackmagic Design Deckling Quad 2 Card. It had kind of a "Slapback Delay" (it´s a guitarist term, hope anybody here knows what I mean - if not: it´s kind of a very short delay of the main signal right after the main signal.
BUT: I checked everything a couple times. There was just the one input from the soundguy, brought into vMix via an "Audio Input". All other audio (from the cams, clips etc.) was turned of. I did´t just turn it of, I even pulled down all the faders and unticked the M, A and B buttons.
I checked my settings today again (saved the file from yesterday) and I´m absolutely sure, it was not a failure regarding the inputs. When I checked my sound via the headphones, everything was fine, but after the sdi output I had the "double delay".
Anybody experienced this with BM cards? Or knows any other reasons for my problem?
(By the way, I´m a sound guy also, so I know how to route stuff etc., so I really checked everything on the input side)
Thanks for your help!!!
Greetings, Thomas

Hi Thomas
just to make it clear, the issue is not an audio input issue, it's not even an issue when streaming or recording (which I understood are ok), it's only appearing when you render the live production or the recorded material thru your BMD Decklink Quad 2 SDI out, right?
If you try another recording (than last night's), do you notice the same issue?

You got it exactly right DWAM. It just appeared when using the BM Out. On all other things (stream, record) I didn´t have the issue...

It makes me feel like you had your BMD card set as Default Audio Device in Windows at the same time vMix used it for External. I don't have Quad 2, only Duo 2 but I noticed Windows might change Default Audio Device setting sometimes and it may result in BMD card being set as new Default.
Just a guess...

We have this issue on all of our systems.
As weird as it may sound, on your external settings, instead of what you would think, in video device select BMD card,
-in audio device select "NONE". -
I get calls on this every few weeks.

It was exactly as you mentioned. I switched the "Master Output" away from the Decklink and now everything is perfect... Well, I don´t get it routing wise, but I´m fine with knowing how to solve the problem :-)
Cheers and thanks everybody,
Thomas
