Hi Guys. One thing that you might look at is on the web client, with WebRTC implementations normally you can select the video and audio sources. On the vMix chat page it doesn't give that option. This is not an issue where there is only one, but if we are wanting to bring in guests with who use different switching software, with their own virtual cameras, this might be an issue. So this FR is simply to allow the guest to choose their preferred video and audio input devices.

Regards, Andrew

Hi Andrew

what you're looking for is in the address bar in Chrome. When connected you should see a cam icon which allows you to choose the devices you want to use.

Yep...just found that....DOH!

However, I still think that it would be nice to have this exposed by the controls as most dumb users...i.e. ME! will not necessarily see this.
thanks 1 user thanked ask for this useful post.

Control of IO devices has been exposed to the Javascript application layer for a while. Many WebRTC apps now allow the user to have a UI that makes device selection easier and more obvious.

This involves using a "canvas" to abstract the device stream from the outgoing peer connection stream.

The further advantage is that it allows the user to switch between multiple cameras and/or a screen share without dropping and restarting the connection.

The Firefox developers have even showed a webrtc app that was able to composite the webcam as a window over a screen share. Sending the resulting stream onward to the distant service.
