A client of mine has asked us to stream their presenter along with his PowerPoint slides, but does not want the slides to be recorded - ie. the online audience should see the presenter + slides as PIP maybe) but for the recorded file it should be just the presenter with no slides! Does anyone know if this is possible and if so how?

Probably better solutions, but this should work:
Two computers with both running vMix. Use NDI on the 2nd computer to bring in the camera shooting the presenter from the main vMix machine as a source. The presenter's camera wouldn't have any of the PowerPoint slides.
If you don't have vMix on a 2nd computer, you might give NewTek NDI IsoCorder a try. Installed on the 2nd computer, it can bring in a camera from your vMix computer as a source to record.

@ pesi
What edition of vMix do you have? This can be done internally with vMix 4K and/or vMix Pro, otherwise, you would have to either try something like what SportsNetUSA.net suggests or record the camera feed independently (in cam recording or split the feed to another recorder). So there are several options, it just kind of depends on your resources at hand and/or budget.

Right now I just have the trial version and am getting the HD version to start with. I think I'll just follow the more simple suggestion and record the camera feed separately in camera. Thanks guys, Pesi

Hi Pesi with the trial version you can do this: - stream and record with PPT - configure EXTERNAL2 so that it will record externally (with VLC for example) the version without PPT. There are different solutions on how to set external2 depending on which method you'll be using for intergrating PPT in your production. For example, if you "overlay" PiP PPT then simply select OUTPUT for ext2 and untick overlays. This way your record will get all your switching except PPT If you use a multiview and multiple cams, it's more complicated but you have options: 1. use ext2 for a single cam only 2. check this post https://forums.vmix.com/....aspx?g=posts&t=9393 where I explained how to build an independent switcher for ext2

Hi DWAM - this is very interesting! So is the External2 recording done on the same computer or on another computer - and if on another, how are they connected? Thanks, Pesi

You can record it on the same computer, by using something like for example indytek insta capture.

@Pesi
Yes as Ittaidv stated it can be on the same computer but you have to make sure it is powerful enough 'cos it won't use GPU encoding.
Otherwise you can get EXT2 feed on another computer using NDI. Check NDI section if you're not familiar with it.

Thanks Guillaume - my laptop is a quad-core i7 with 8GB ram and a dedicated nVidia graphics card - I assume that should be sufficient? p
