Reduce delay streaming on youtube

Goodmorning everyone. I would like to understand a few things, I ask someone who may have more experience. We produce sporting events on the web, just a tv broadcasts our productions, taking audio and video from our youtube channel on DTT. Unfortunately stream brings with it a delay of about 30 seconds, I would understand if in the future this delay can be minimized or if you already can do. Alternatively there is an inexpensive system that guarantees a reduced delay for a 720p transmission 4mega upload?

Hi!
Streaming to YouTube or any RTMP platform usually gives around 20/30 seconds delay. This is common.
Here are suggestions (among others) for streaming to the DTT TV channel:
- install a streaming server in their facility and stream both destinations (YT + TV)
Using a small and open source solution like Mist Server for example you can reduce latency at least by half. Give it a try!
Using Wowza Low Latency feature, it can be much less but it's not free.
- use another protocol like RTSP or Unicast over UDP for providing the feed to the TV channel. These can be close to realtime.
- use a professional broadcast solution like Aviwest or LiveU or TVU (or some others) or Satellite.
I use Aviwest often like many european channels. Latency can be reduced to 3 seconds.
Obviously it is not cheap and requires long-term investments or rentals...
Maybe this channel is already equipped with such a solution, talk to them...

Or just set the stream option to "Low Latency" in your YouTube Live-Dashboard ;-) Then you should have a latency around 5 to 10 seconds.

I never had under 15/20 seconds latency on YouTube for 1080p ingests even with Low Latency option, due to the multiscreen transcoding process I suppose. Maybe for SD streams? I don't know that...

We routinely get 6-12 seconds latency on a 720p/30 stream to YouTube. In fact sometimes our European viewers have less than those here in the States. - Tom
