Just doing away vMix streaming. Trial football (soccer) game.

The signal goes from Turkey, sent with OBS to a CDN. I'm taking it with vMix Flash/RTMP module in Poland. Adding commentary, graphics, instant replay + social media (special hashtag) and here we go:

www.youtube.com/watch?v=tG6x8sf9VqE

Over 10K concurrent viewers.

@ r@wisla

Well done!
Must have been somewhat tricky for the commentators if they were not at the venue but watching the rtmp feed, how big of a monitor did they have?
And what was the general response from your viewership (10,000 wow)?

Yes, it was tricky. LCD 21''. But stream quality for them was exactly the same as you see there. The game was played in some village area, our team played there for the first time and when we checked the upload speed before the game it was... 1,1 mbps.

I decided to stream from the venue 960x540 @700kbps...

The commentators were well prepared, lots of stories and anecdotes, they tried to speak to audience, invite to twitt etc... Looked they had fun and the audience liked it.

There was a funny moment when the commentators missed one thing and people wrote about it on twitter. Immediately they could correct the comment and thank to people that watch so carefully.

Actually it was more than 75K views, but more than 50% was from Romania (our rivals country) ;) Plus there was some other youtube channel that have stolen our stream and had +/- 1K concurrent viewers.

General response? Very good. Because the team played quite well and won ;)

Actually, it was our fourth stream from Turkey, earlier we had some issues so this time people were satisfied there were no hickups and black image.

Wow - so cool that you have that many viewers and hits on the stream - good job!

How do you announce the streams, using social media or local media to spread the word, using physical posters, or howso?

Basically a club website plus FB and Twitter profile. And there are some fans websites and social media profiles that do it too. Yesterday few romanian websites informed also.
Usually the info is not earlier than 24 hours before the game. Few weeks ago there were infos about trial games that PROBABLY will be streamed.

Hi Tommi

you can do this with any streaming platform.

Some will give your a RTMP or RTSP url to play the stream, then you add this into vMix.

Others, like YouTube for example, only give you an HTTP url, then you can use vMix builtin WebBrowser to play the stream and add graphics or audio and then re-stream...

It's a very good idea!

Yeah that i was thinking also and tried with Wowza Cloud trial but there i didn't find RTMP or RTSP url. Maybe they don't provide it. So what CDN would do that instead of HTTP url

Tommi

I don't use Wowza Cloud (I have my own Wowza server at home) but usually you can play your feeds by default like this:

rtmp://yourWowzaIp:1935/live/now

Just change the url depending on your stream name

If you want to experiment easily such workflows, you can install free Mist server in 5 minutes

I like this one, create one account.
Are you using free 100GB or paying some package?

Is it stable? I will try use this for television live program. If it doesn't fall down usually :)

Many months ago I payed couple of bucks... I bought about 1TB of bandwidth and made test of live transcoding.

I never used it for any "heavy" job like HD livestream to hundreds/tousands of users. For everything I used it so far it was stable.

It costs 25$ for 1TB. I am thinking to use it to send signal to local TV station because I saw it creates HLS, RTMP etc so they can use for example RTMP code and put it live on air. I will not use it for public to have 100-500-1000 viewers. There will be only one viewer, the TV station :))

I will give a try

Thx

Hi!

InaCDN doesn't give any information about their CDN infrastructure. Except they're in Berlin...

When streaming can you choose between several origin servers for ingest (based on location)?

Do you have an idea where the edge servers are located around the world?

Thanks
Guillaume

I guess there is no option like this. But never searched for it - like I wrote: I used the service for quite small things.

Also, I didn't check where are their nearest edge servers - mostly because Poland is next to Germany :)

BTW, yesterday we did last trial winter game from small city about 30km from our location, with bitrate 3mbps @720p.
thanks 1 user thanked r@wisla for this useful post.
