Hi

I'm looking to build a small form factor i7 dedicated Vmix machine using this motherboard

I am wondering if the onboard graphics would be up to the job for HD mixing as I'd like to use the 2 available PCIe slots for BM Decklink cards

Please let me know your thoughts. I'd be very grateful for any advice!

This motherboard has some excellent reviews!

Based on my initial research, it appears that the onboard video performance is dependent upon the CPU's integrated GPU. So, try to get the best CPU as possible (depending upon your budget, of course).

Also, how much RAM are you planning to install? The onboard video card also uses the system's RAM as it's Video RAM. Personally, I wouldn't go less than 8GB, and let the video card take the maximum 1.7GB.

That's my "two cents". Anyone else have any opinions?

I thought similar with my Gigabyte Sniper M3, which is a m-atx board with the same cpu possibilities but with the Z77 chipset, which is - I think - higher spec then the Asus H61 chipset.
I use it with a 3.8 Ghz cpu 4core and found that it drops frames with the internal graphics.... :-(
So I installed a ATI 7860 and all is well now !

You want to use it with how many inputs? 2x BMD Quad?

I am not too optimistic about any GPU onboard on any motherboard, but would love to hear from someone who found the right board!

Hi thanks for your replies.
My plan was to use an Intensity pro and a Decklink duo but I took another look at the MB and saw it has just one PCIe slot so back to the drawing board! In any case I think you are right and I'll just need to build a bigger PC with enough space for the recommended graphics card.

That's a nifty little setup. Smallest vMix box I've seen. Work? Could plug in 3 Intensity pro cards and a Shuttle thru usb3? Is that what you use? What case is all this stuffed into?

My system has a Decklink quad right now. As I installed a Wifi card on the last available slot there is no room for expansion, but I could loose that card of course.
It is in a CoolerMaster mini/midi case and this all fits in a large Pelican case, including a 17" HP screen.
very "portable" at 25 kg! ;-)
Luckily the Pelican case has wheels too.

I had to cut out some metal out of the disk-tray to allow for the ATI card, but still managed to install 2 1Tb disks and a system disk in there.
