I have a friend who is trying to use vMix Basic HD (18.0.0.58) on an older notebook computer (until he gets his new machine)

Curious thing, when using external, vMix apparently is not putting out the 1280x720 resolution specified.

For example, in Skype or Zoom, if he uses any of his cameras directly (not using vmix), he transmit a high def image just fine, so it's not the connection.
However, when Skype or Zoom is told to use the vMix output, it winds up low resolution.

The cameras are displaying hi res within the vMix preview and output windows.
vMix CPU usage varies from 35 to 55 percent
Total CPU usage is 100 percent (I know, I know that's obnoxious, and the reason he's getting another computer)
Sometimes, for a few seconds, Skype or Zoom sees high res, but then it quickly deteriorates.
Cameras are Logitech c920 (using their driver) and c930e (using the windows 10 UVC driver)

Any thoughts about what I can check/adjust for him to get hi res on this machine?

Thanks,
Alan Z.

My guess- -and it is just that- is that you are dropping frames somewhere in the output.

What do your logs show?

A Porsche 911 Turbo can do 0-60 in under 3 seconds.

Now, put a hitch on it and attach a one ton trailer.

Your testing seems to point to your friend's laptop just not having the resources to run Skype and vMix plus output hi-res.
