Hiya

I noticed in your latest release, you have a 'Fix for Magewell inputs showing up blank when multiple cards are installed' - i am having this exact same problem with Decklink crad's. I have 2 x Decklink Quads, and 1 x Decklink Duo (Using a 40 lane CPU on an X99 motherboard), thought it was a PCIe lane issue, but it always seems to be either input 4 of the first Quad (Input 4), or the first input of the second quad (Input 5) - or sometimes both. Only solution it to keep rebooting until i get all 8 inputs working, and both outputs on the Duo working. It will support all these cards running simultaneously - but a real pain in the but having to reboot several times to get all the channels working simultaneously.

I have swapped the motherboard, and the CPU and its still the same. The PCIe are defintly in the right sockets to eaxh get the full complement of PCIe lanes they need (x4,x4,x2) with an Nvidia GT960 4Gb in the first x16 slot.

All The Best

Keith

Hi Keith,

What options do you see in the dropdown list in Add Input -> Camera?

There should be options there named after the cards you have installed,"Decklink Video Capture" should not be used
as there appears to be a bug in the decklink drivers with multiple cards when using that name.

Regards,

Martin

Hi Martin

I am using the 'Decklink SDI inputs' not the 'Decklink Video Capture' or 'WDM Inputs', which now both appear as 'Legacy Drivers' Sent you an e-mail and uploaded a status report with licence number. We have rebooted several times today, and every time we are missing one or more inputs. Fortunately I have a Blackmagic Universal Videohub sat between the cameras and the VMIX so was able to just move the six of eight working around, and re route the cameras appropriately. But not ideal, as having to change it all around after every reboot.

Best Regards

Keith

Hi Keith,

The screenshot in your email shows the older "Decklink Video Capture" for all the inputs which is why I am a bit confused...

Hi Martin

You are quiet correct. The preset I loaded was one I call 'Camera Test' and is an old preset that I have been using since version 16 to test that all the inputs are working before loading my 'show' presets. However I actually reloaded each input with the 'DeckLink SDi' inputs early yesterday morning specifically so the preset saved off would be a VMIX V18 specific camera test. I can only presume the names were populated from from the original V16 preset, and not updated when I re-configured each camera.

The show will be off air in 3 hours, and I will build a new 'Camera Test' from scratch on V18. However I am 100 cirtain that the 'show' preset is all 'DeckLink SDI' and the same inputs are missing. The show preset was also intialy built on V16 and had just been modified and updated over the past 12 months.

I generally choose Decklink SDi always because I don't have sound from any of my cameras, and its the only option that ever allowed me to disable sound, and thus remove unwanted channels on the audio mixer.

The status Report I sent you should confirm that I am using Decklink SDI as the inputs - and its just the names that are misrepresenting things. Please let me know if this is not the case.

As I said I can't get to the machine until 1:00am GMT. But will fully check this out then.

All The best, and thanks for your help.

Hi Keith,

Unfortunately the preset sent with the support report is showing the old "Decklink Video Capture" sources.
(You can see this by opening the preset in notepad and seeing the Capturepath value for each one, it will show the Decklink SDI x names
if correct, and the "@device:sw:*" names when using the old directshow decklink video capture sources)

You should also see this when going into Input Settings for each one as the original device name will be up the top left of the Change button.

So rebuilding the preset from scratch would be a good test.

If you still see problems, then also check Blackmagic Media Express to make sure they are all working there, if not then
you might need to submit a support request to Blackmagic.

Regards,

Martin

Thanks for this, it gives me great hope that I can get this issue sorted. Thank you very much for pointing me in this direction.

Just out of interest both of my top engineers are now located out there, one on the Sunshine Coast and the other down in Melbourne, what with them, yourself, and Blackmagic all located out there, I am somewhat confused why I am sat in a cold wet and rainy office in the UK. If you ever need acces to an exceptional IT / Broadcast engineer for odd jobs / install etc who is clued up on VMIX etc, whos only 90 minutes away from you just shout.

I will let you know how it goes as soon as I can have exclusive use of the machine in an hour and a half.

All The best, and as always thank you!

Switched all inputs to Decklink SDI, and rebuilt all my presets, but problem still persists. However is slightly different in that faulty inputs are now just black and not greyed out. We have however now determined that these issues are present in other applications including Media Express. I have asked my Australian team, to contact BlackMagic today about the issues.

Thanks for highlighting the issue with legacy Blackmagic drivers, i'm sure its been mentioned on the forums before, but they are so extensive these days i can't always keep up.

Hey would you consider setting up an RSS feed for all your 'announcements' especially changelog and upgrade notifications. We use a corporate wide RSS syndication and distribution system to notify the plethora of engineers and techs about issues with software and hardware from manufactures and vendors. As VMIX is now a central core of our business it would be really cool to include your announcements to our staff, as we do for almost every other major (and a good few minor) vendors we use.

And Thanks Again - I remember its this kind of support is exactly why we trust our business to Studio Coast pty and VMIX.

All the Best

Keith
