Hello!

vMix is cool!

So, vmix should be able to mix HDV video?

When I add Input and Capture, I can select my Sony HVR-A1E camera, but I can't get it to import any video!

HDV resolution is, if I remember correctly 1440x1080, but that resolution is not in the resolution list. Vmix gives this error:

"vMix
AddNewInput
The system cannot open the file."

In Vista (64 bit) Device Manager Sony HVR-A1E camera is located in: Sound, video and game controllers.

I use vMix version 8.0.0.53 32 bit (trial)

Kind regards,
Jan Tervo,
Finland

hi jan,

i use 2 firewire sony fx-7e, hdv, and all works fine. isn`t your problem related with video codecs? try to go settings -> decoders -> MPEG 2 Video and see if any modification on that list makes your camera work.

melody

Hi Melody and thanks for the suggestion, but it did not work for me, there is no options for me.

I use Vista Business and just found this on http://windows.microsoft...equently-asked-questions

Q Which versions of Windows Vista can I use to import HDV?

A To import high-definition video from an HDV camera by using Import Video in Windows Vista, your computer must be running Windows Vista Home Premium or Windows Vista Ultimate.

Hiya Guys,
I hope that you don't mind please but I think that I have a similar problem.
I have opnly just posted a request for help with it.

Melody, I too have changed the video decoders and tried every option but even though the device seems to be recognised, works well in FMLE, it remains stubborn in vMix and the screen just remains black.

I am running Windows 7 so puzzled as why this is so.

Any other suggestions please?

Cheers

Tel

hi tel,

in my case, my sony fx-7e send hdv firewire compressed signal in mpeg2-ts. if it is your case too, you need some decoder installed like LAV Directshow filters or ffmpeg. you can find them on K-lite mega codec pack (i have it).

in other way, you can try settings -> Performance -> Video Render and select another value on the list.

remember to restart vmix in any modification on settings and make sure that your graphic card is running the latest drivers.

Hi All,

Just to officially answer this thread, downloading the K-Lite Codec Pack (Full Version at least - I didn't try any of the others), solved the issue of HDV not being recognized as a capture device. I had to install K-Lite on a system with Windows 10 (latest version as of 12/15/2018).

One interesting note is that I tested HDV in vMix on a Windows 7 system (fresh install) and HDV worked perfectly without having to install K-lite or any other software. I guess there is less support for HDV or MPEG2 in Windows 10 than there is in Windows 7.

Also, another note, while HDV did not work with vMix without K-Lite, standard definition DV did work. Until finding this thread, I set my camera to output SD instead of HDV and it detected fine without any additional software.

Many Thanks to everyone for this thread.
Mark
