I am using Vmix for some time but i simply can’t understand well how triggers work and i am not stupid

1. I want some animated tittle to repeat itself on some predefined time (for instance 3 or 5 min)
2. I put that but often i can’t understand time and repetition process because only first come at predefined time and rest are mess up – If i using small numbers like 20 seconds repetition with 10 sec duration than everything works – Problem exist only when i want some of those show after 3 min (big numbers) – Are those times in “relative” or absolute regarding to overlay in (beginning)
3. I know that i must use in and out functions but i thing triggers are mess up with this kind of adding two triggers one for “on and for off” (or in and out)
4. I try to find answers under help but i didn’t have luck and also i didn’t find answers searching through general discussions

Can somebody be kind to post print screen with definition for next

I want some animated title to show

1. First time after 30 sec after beginning of playing list and to be 10 sec long
2. Second time after 3 min and to be 10 sec long also
3. Third time after 6 min and to be 10 sec long also
If you want to help me than post this case and i will try to replicate it in my case and see how it works

I think that much better way will be that we have triggers in one column where we will have (relative) start time (regarding overlay in) and duration of that action without delay

If i have blocks of content long 20 min i just want that animated title show discreetly every few min and i want that to be for instance at 5, 10 and 15 min with 10 sec duration (i will change time from your example according to my needed times but i just want example which works with several repetition to understand how i must set up my case)

Every my trial has been bad because every title after first show up in some totally strange way in times which i simply don’t understand good!

I hope i have explained which explanation i need because i am trying to understand but without success – Maybe i am in some steps totally wrong because i have long experience with some other software packages and maybe my intuition is bad in this case and i because of that i am doing something totally wrong

Thanks in advance

As near as I can figure, there is a 30 second limit to the 'Delay' amount allowed, whether this is a bug or by design I do no know as there is nothing listed in the documentation, but no matter how many milliseconds above 30000 you attempt, it activates after only 30 seconds (also, keep in mind, the "Trigger" function is progressive, that is, AFAIK, each item in the list starts after the one ahead of it has activated).
A workaround would be to:
1- set-up an initial set of "Triggers" within the first 30 seconds of "OnTransitionIn" to overlay the animated title on and off
2- Create a Virtual Input of said Input
3- Create a Playlist that switches between the two Inputs at chosen intervals
In this way, at every interval of the switch, the "Trigger" will activate as set-up.

I already have two lists

One is for program content and another is from advertisings (few different videos)

Content list is often 2 or even 3 hours – I set that it plays 20 min than advertising block play for 2 min and that schedule repeatrs till the end (20 min content 2 min advetsising, 20 min content 2 min advrts and again)

Animated title must be shown under content block and not separate like i think you suggest – I already using that title as input scheduled to show several time but i cant schedule its showing on 5, 10 and 15 min – Sometimes he shows after lot of time (2 min possibly) but i can’t understand why :(

I set it to show it after 50 sec but it shows after 38 …. I don’t know why and i don’t know how it gets number 38 and not 50 or 30 like you sad it is limit…. In that list i have intro and then i have 30 min video – Title shows after 16 sec (intro) and 22 sec of content video)

I simply can’t understand those numbers

I have read you suggestion (workaround) and now i don’t understand what exactly you are suggesting me because i don’t want to play tittle separate from content but on content that people know what type of program they are watching!

Maybe i dint understand you suggestion – If you can please upload print screens – that is 2-3 min time to show me examples of list and how that looks like because i think i already use that way of work but for advertising and i need title to be over content and not separate

Thanks in advance

As previously stated, I don't know if this is a bug or not, but I could not get vMix to 'Trigger' the first Overlay, or any Overlay at more than 30 second intervals (I don't understand the numbers either), perhaps vMix admin can investigate.
I am not currently at my vMix machine so it's not posible for me to do a print screen sample right now but I am confident my workaround will work for you as you need it to, it just takes some time to set-up.
Firstly, are you able to 'Trigger' the overlay at least once in the first 30 seconds?
Secondly, are you comfortable in setting up a playlist?
The issue is, if you want the Overlay to automatically "play" every 5 minutes or so, but the "Trigger" will not allow for more than a 30 second interval, the method I describe above will aply the overlay every time you Transition to that Input, but a 'Playlist' does not recognize a Transition to the same Input as a new "OnTransitionIn", hence the need for a Virtual Input and why you would cut between them every 5 minutes, since it's the same image on both Inputs, the 'Transition' between them is not percievable (Cut, Fade or Merge) and the Overlay 'Trigger' is activated anew each time.
It sounds complex, but it's really quite simple once you figure out what's going on.
Let me know if this is clear or not, there are some other settings that may need to be adjusted dependinfg on exactly what your Input is.

I speak with friend who also use Vmix for production and we discuss about this and he check and tell me that this is possible to do in ver 17 – He point me that there is huge difference btw ver 16 and 17 in this case

Maybe i didn’t mention that i am using ver 16 and not 17… He send me some examples how that looks like in ver 17 and i realized that your suggestion is kind an easy to workout in 17 but in 16 i have doubts – I am now trying to realize how that can be done in ver 16 – I seen that in 17 you have LOT of options and you can even call a list from trigger – I will try to explore all that but i am in bad situation because i don’t see exit from situation in ver 16 :( - I am in computers since 87 and i am not so old :) but sometimes it is very bad when you trying realisation for something and you can’t find a way to do it – I will try to do all to check that but in mean time i will go to friend to see how that can be done in 17 – By my first impressions i have much more possibilities and options – Maybe i will go from 16 to 17 soon and i yet need to see what is changed in 18 ...

In mean time i am on ver 16 and your suggestion is work from 16 or 17?

You suggested next

/Quote

I already using playlist (at the bottom of screen) to play predefined content in length of 20 min after which comes advertisings (1-2 min) – I already use this method for playing advertisings – like print screen shows

I am using this from the beginning but i can’t put there animated title to show every 5 min – If i do that i must shorter my content from 20 to 5 min and that is out of the question – I need to show animated title over content and not separated from them

Have you tried with a Virtual Input copy of your original MP4 20 minute Input?
If the "Trigger" is set up to overlay your animated title at 5000 milliseconds of "OnTransitionIn" and off after 10 seconds on the original Input (PIC_0095.MP4 in illustration), a Virtual Input of that Input will also do the same (until you change or adjust it).
If you change your timing in the "Playlist" to 5 minutes and switch to the Virtual Input for 5 minutes and again to the Original Input for 5 minutes and finally to the Virtual Input for 5 minutes, you effectively have 20 minutes of continuous playing of the original video with animated overlays at 5 seconds, 5 minutes and 5 seconds, 10 mins 5 secs and 15 mins 5 secs, provided you setup in settings to NOT "Automatically Start or Pause" with Transition.
The transition is not perceptible to the viewer since it is the same image.
As stated, it requires a little bit of set-up, but it should be a feasible workaround, provided there are not more complications that you have not yet disclosed.
Let me know how you make out.
Updating to vMix 17 is probably advisable in the long term, but I see no reason why this shouldn't work with vMix 16.
(I'm currently using vMix 18)
