I've been unsuccessful in streaming to Facebook Live. Are there any prerequisites with Facebook to get it to receive the stream?

1. Can it stream to a personal page?
2. Does the page need to be "verified"?

I am able to stream to YouTube.

This is the error message I get when starting Facebook Live stream...

kubsix,

Can you pls describe in more detail how you set up the stream?
There are some differences depending on if you first set up an event in Facebook, or if you use vMix's Facebook "Destination".

I have tried both ways. The manual RTMP method and using vMix's Facebook Destination.

Things I have learned since the OP.

Installed vMix on a different computer on a different network. Read "at home". I was able to post directly to Facebook without any issues.
The answers to my first two questions are yes it can stream to a personal page and no the page does not need to be verified.

Installed vMix on a different computer on the same network as the first PC and receive the same error message. So that raises new questions:

1. Wonder if the issue is with at the network/server level.
2. Are the any port or prerequisites for the network config?

I need to do some more investigation but any insight would be appreciated.

Seems like a network issue. I believe that in most cases port 1935 is used. Since YouTube works for you it might be something in the Firewall that limits access to Facebook in particular.

Also, note that "the manual RTMP method", ie setting up a post/event in Facebook, implies that the RTMP URL and key is only valid for 24 hours. See www.facebook.com/facebookmedia/get-started/live

Facebook Live utilizes port 80. We were able to get it resolved by changing the PC's restrictions for port 80 put in place by the network's proxy server.

Don't know if Martin specifies port 80 when vMix is setting up Facebooks live stream. For sure when I just tried creating a live event in Facebook, the URL provided used port 80. But Facebooks "get started" (link in my previous post), the example url is for port 443.

In any case, I'm glad you solved it :)
