My use for screen capture is really simple. I need to run Power Point presentations from a laptop. The old version of vmix screen capture never let me down, and the new NDI does not work at all. My vmix system is W10, 64 bit - the laptop I use for PP is W7 32 bit. This has never been an issue before. I have a gig that starts at 4:00 PM local time I need a solution.
The network is working. I can use Home Network, I can copy data between computers - NDI just sits there whirring around. It sees no other systems on the network.
HELP!

I think your laptop does not have a processor which supports SSSE3, which is needed for NDI to work. A solution is getting a more recent laptop for the powerpoint, or revert vmix to 16 and use the old desktop capture.

Thank you. I am bringing a new laptop. I also considered going back to 16, but I start gig in 2 hours, so not much time. At least after tonight I have 5 days to get this solved.
Most appreciate your response.

Do you have NDI enabled in vmix settings. You have to select the source types you allow NDI to work with. If you have not set this then it will just sit there whirring around and do v. little.

I used a new computer. W10 64 bit and it worked. A little disappointing that I had to do that at all. It would have been nice to support the old technology and give the user the choice.
Thanks for posts.

If it was the SSSE3 instruction set causing issues with NDI. These instructions were first added 10 years ago to Intel CPUs. I think supporting systems within the last 10 years is pretty good for supporting old technology, but there are going to be systems that are just to old.

My old laptop, is not that old. I5, running W7 Pro. It has worked for a number of years. It would not work with NDI. The network was fine, the vmix computer a W10 pro 64 bit...and they would not talk. I could share files over the network, but NDI did not work. I don't know why, and to be honest, don't really care. I used a new computer running W10 64 bit and was up and running.
Thanks.

Well, it wasn't SSSE3 that was the problem, all Intel i5 processors support this instruction set. Next guess is probably the GPU. Many laptops have dual graphic chips in them and depending on how that is configured it can cause problems with software that tries to grab the screen. You probably can get it to work, but it might require some configuration of GPU settings.
