Can anyone with the Windows 10 version 1607 (Anniversary Update) check if vMix is showing audio levels for DirectShow capture devices (i.e. built-in Mic, USB 3 capture, etc...)?

I have noticed that this new build of Windows has no audio levels for a device within vMix, but does work in other apps on that computer. Original Windows 10 RTM version works with vMix just fine as far as audio capture is concerned.

Thanks!

@ lbgaus

Not sure if I fully understand your issue...
Are you referring only to web cams or any audio device?
AFAIK, the audio and video components of a web cam are treated separately and must be input separately in vMix.
In my "Audio Input" Audio Device drop-down menu, I have an extended list of audio inputs available to me on my system. I have not gone through and tested them all, but the mic on my web cam (Microsoft LifeCam) appears to work just fine in Windows 10 Pro version 1607 for me, as does my computer headset mic when input into vMix as an "Audio Input".

Hi IceStream,

I'm basically referring to any audio capture device, I have no issues picking up audio outside of vMix but the level indicators show no audio no matter what combination of frequency and bitrate I choose in the Add Input menu. So far I've tried the built in microphone and a USB 3 capture device I bought, both have working audio out of vMix. Both work fine on the same vMix version in the RTM version of Windows 10 on the same laptop. Same device drivers too...

I'll keep playing around and see what I can find. Thanks for the info.

I found the cause of this problem, for what it's worth to anyone. I dug into the vMix logs and saw it was complaining about not being able to register a COM object, I google'd that and saw that it was some sort of Microsoft DirectSound audio device, and noticed on forum postings this driver is missing from the N (Europe) editions of Windows 10, which was where this laptop came from originally.

I tried installing the media pack (KB3133719) but still couldn't get audio to work. I found some Windows 10 version 1607 media that was the regular edition, reinstalled, and everything works fine now.
