Hi All, I need to broadcast and stream HD events using the QuestTel 3G-SDI extender over fiber. I am looking into having the ability to do full multicam mixes in 4K. Before I even look at investing in additional equipment, is there such thing as a 30km 3G, 6G, or 12G SDI fiber that's capable of UHD 6K? What's the maximum distance a 6K SDI fiber can run? What are users doing for 6K long cable runs. Thank you, Otto

Wow, those things will do 49 miles on single mode fibre ! There's also the 4ch sdi device, so that could do 6G UHD. Use two for 12G ?
NDI with a little compression on fibre to reduce the bitrate might be another option.

How far do you need to go?

I run multiple 3G-SDI cameras over fiber for all of our races. Longest run is approximately 1000ft.+ Connections and signals are rock solid.
Using Blackmagic SDI to Fiber converters on both ends.

Thank you for your feedback, we were hesitating between Telecast and QuestTel but the price mattered and we purchased QuestTel 3g-sdi over fiber extender kit with rs485 channel, once we had it in place and running, we were blown away by the features which this gear comes with. Along side all the features and capabilities, they also offer extensive tech support to ensure that our unit is installed and running correctly.

I have very good experiences with those rattler's from telecast. I rented them for a gig, and they work really well!
Those ethernet solutions are also interesting, and a lot cheaper. You really need good ethernet cables for them to work though, we had a cat6 cable that was not properly shielded, and no succes!

Telecast Rattler $2,000.00 >>> QuestTel $335.00 plus RS485 Channel and Loop Out etc.. why any one in the world would pay 6 times more !!! I am pretty sure if you try QuestTels SDI over fiber product you would stay with QuestTel unless you have extra $1,700.00 to throw away Good luck $$$
