Newtek announce today their IP series Consisting of a 4 port SDI to NDI converter input module. and a 4 port NDI to SDI converter, output module. as well as a NDI Controller to tie it all together... But the good news the input and output modules work standalone. The input box includes a 4channel ISO recorder built in... http://www.newtek.com/ip-series/A.

I saw the input module should be available immediatly according to the press release, but couldn't find more info about it.

No, neither can I. There is obvs. chat in the Newtek forums abt the new IP series which these boxes are part of, and talk saying they're available and shipping but I can't find a definitive price as of yet.

OK update just read this...
As for anyone wondering pricing this is what I got from sales
40K Mixing Console (2RU)
20K Control Sruface
7K Ingest (1RU)
9K Output (1RU)
No one has corrected him yet, so I guess thats somewhere in the ballpark of..
Re bird-dog yeah they're behind a little, but usually the first to do something new are.. their pricing was around $700 for their HDMI-SDI to NDI converter.

Way too much money for what it is, unless it has almost 0 latency, which i doubt.. The pricing is close, well it is really $5 less than that for each system. Also, I believe in IN box is 6K, not 7K. At least in the US, perhaps in other parts of the world it would be different. It is less than a frame of latency. One of the advantages of using hardware and drivers that we build is that we can get data from it while the video is still coming in. Most other video hardware waits for the entire frame video to arrive before it passes it out to the software application, which puts you at a frame of latency before software has even touched it. Do realize that it is a 4 input unit with 3G-SDI and balanced audio inputs as well, along with multview capabilities and recording. It's not just a converter box. There is still Connect Pro and Connect (free) if you want to build your own solution, which will do some of what the IN box does. Kane Peterson NewTek

Yeah it's obvious reading more and more product releases their aiming to put NDI on the roadmap of large production companies in the broadcast industry as a IP solution, so the pricing is aimed squarely there. I don't think too many vMix'ers with be running the full stack of 4x4 ingest and 4x4 output boxes at 7k apiece. 😀

Edit.. Actually, thats the equiv of a TC mini which also does 4 SDI to NDI captures, so you get all the extra features for free. Now I'm thinking the mini would make a great SDI - NDI 4 channel converter 😁

I can definitely see that appeal. It's more configurable than any traditional switcher.
Lots of possible redundancy. Hopefully makes for a fault tolerant system.
And it's a system supportable by a single entity. That's valuable.

I want to be respectful of vMix and not turn this into a NewTek sales thread. I'll answer these question, but you might want to join the NewTek forums to get more information.
The recording is XDCAM style compression in a Quicktime file, I believe the data-rate is about 100mbits/s for 1080i, but it does vary depending on the frame-size/frame-rate.
As for the analog inputs, there are 2x XLR inputs and 6x TRS inputs.
