Hi

I'm in the market for a wireless sender/receiver.

I'm not interested in a unit that works "ok". Need something that produces clean video over about 80m.

That looks like a Paralink Triton knock-off. The Cinegears Ghost-Eye 100 looks exactly like a Paralink Triton, so it would seem some company in Taiwan or China is making the units for companies such as Cinegears and Paralink.

A Paralink Triton is suppose to be have a maximum range of 121 meters (400'). However there are conditions to where you might get good results at 80 meters at a location, but have bad results at 90 meters. Antenna placement and other variables obviously come into play. I've never gotten my Triton to work at 121 meters. The max has been approximately 95 meters.

You might want to look at Teradek and IDX products depending on your budget.

If all you need is video (no audio), look at an Amimon Connex or Connex mini - Good for 1000m/500m line of sight with less than 1ms of latency. These are made for drone use, but can be used for remote cameras as well.

80 meters i can't guarantee, but after playing with several options, the array trans from aputure is my tool to go. I tested it on several occasions, and it works flawless.

Depending on what other wireless signals are in the air, it does at least 30 and on several occasions up to 100 meters. Since it's a 60 ghz signal, there is no noticable delay on the device. For less then 1000 euro (we paid 800), you can't go wrong on this one.

We also use an amimon connex, with varying results. Sometimes it can do up to a kilometer without any problems, sometimes getting 50 meters working without flaws is hard. The good thing is it doesn't require line of sight, and it can take some aftermarket antenna's and boosters for extra range. Since it's way cheaper and more powerful compared to terradek and paralinx devices, who use amimon technology too, I would take this one if you don't always have line of sight.

Both are hdmi only, but i can really vouch for them.

Apart from that, we also tested the CW-5HD from IDXTEK. This thing is really expensive and doesn't deliver at all.

Thanks for the info guys. Gee there are a lot of options out there but its great to hear from those in the know.

I film a lot of dance concerts so latency is definitely a big issue - WE CAN'T HAVE SYNC ISSUES! I also will need it to carry audio (well some of the time) so it looks like that would cancel out the amimon connex.

I'm thinking the Array Trans may be the go as a friend has one and swears by it and so I will be testing it on Sunday. Some of the time the cameraman will be on sports fields and so moving beyond the 90 degree limitation of this one so hopefully the dropouts wont be that bad. The cameraman would be wearing a wireless headset so would be informed of when the camera drops out.

The plan is to bring into vmix and really funk up our productions which have been largely single camera of sports games. Imagine a roaming camera in the huddles pre game and during breaks here

Any tips on wireless headset options also welcome.

Thanks

I'm not sure if the array trans carries audio, I would look that up if I were you. We also use it for dance events, but take the audio from the dj mixer and a few ambi mics, we only take image from the cams.

Also keep in mind that the array trans needs to be off set maximum 15 degrees. I would only use it when both array trans units are on a static position towards each other, and use a 20 meter powered hdmi to connect to them.

Yes it does.

I have 2 sets and have tested them within a meter of each other. i.e. a transmitter behind each goal on soccer pitch to two Rx feeding vMix input.

E.g. had remote camera Tx(1) to Rx(1) -> vMix distance about 70meters loop HDMI output from laptop to second Tx(2) to commentators next to to remote camera via second Rx(2) which fed into Rockin 7" HDMI monitor to view replays scores clock etc. Too much delay in audio to give commentators audio feed tho.

Tested on soccer pitch exceeding 80meters but no crowd. Also actually did a 180deg and still worked but may have been bouncing around buildings. Doesnt have to be exactly pointed to each other, from my experiments anyway.

If line of sight is blocked e.g. people, then it will falter so keep it high but re-connection is very quick less than 30 sec.

Has saved me hassles with laying SDI cable. I generally run them for 1280x720p in vMix

Battery life in home test was 5 hours but in field maybe less 4hrs tho they have died when lost track of time setting up at games. Usefull to have spare batteries and change thru event just in case.
