https://www.facebook.com...videos/1007586606026234/We film 4wd/offroad events and decided to try something new, and so a trial run of vmix, 3 ground cameras, and a drone streamed live from the middle of no where seemed like a good challenge! We used 2x PXW-X70s (using their built-in encoders) wifi connected to special back packs I made (which connect long range over 5ghz gear, up to 1.5km away), a static camera (on sticks) being feed into an HDMI extender (that pretty much encodes to MPEG-TS over UDP, yay for cheap encoders) and a drone being feed into a Liveshell 2. We did have an action-cam (gopro type camera) that could be placed on/in vehicles using the same long-range IP transmission system, however, short of hands, didn't get a chance to utilize it. Essentially, the entire setup was IP based (and wireless, because I'm a cable hater), and worked pretty well. As well as not having any sort of budget to pull it off. Only screw ups were, no audio overlay for the drone shots, bad cuts (we had a trainee switcher on the laptop running vmix), and large moments where there was no action (time for an ad break? lol). Watch from 1 hr 3 minutes to get a good idea. VMix is a powerhouse for this stuff and I'm sold.
