I'm capturing a 1920x1080 monitor, while I have 1 camera input. My latency is 1-3ms before adding a local desktop capture. Then it shoots to 30-50 after.

I see no way to downgrade the frame rate of the capture. Any way I can get the latency down more? Also, attempting to capture specific windows does not work.

Which videocard is in the system? Render times that are consistently above 20msec, are a sign that your GPU is over it's limit.

I have 2 Nvidia GTX 980's SLI'd. I also have 16gb ram, and an Intel Core i7-4790K.

I'm using a Black Magic Intensity Pro 4k for the video camera capture.

This is frustrating because everything is setup perfectly, and the end result is almost perfect, but in parts of the camera, there are noticeable dropped frames.

Isn't there a way to make it so both camera capture and desktop capture aren't concurrent? They don't need to be, I'm only showing one or the other. Would be nice to just toggle on/off the one or the other with a shortcut.

What do you capture locally?

I create video tutorials / video courses on web design and development.

So that means, most of the time, I'm screen capturing applications like Photoshop, Illustrator, Sublime Text Editor, etc.. Preferably in a 1920x1080 resolution, so I specify the local capture as being a monitor at 1920x1080.

If you go here, you'll see what my video camera is capturing when I'm *not* screen casting, which is just me behind the computer, addressing the audience. (Note, that video was created not using vMix).

The reason I'm using vMix is because I want to cut out the post-editing stuff, and do it all on the fly, while recording.

Also, after experimenting some more, I guess the end result isn't too bad in terms of lost frames. It's not as good as the video I linked you though.

You can try to disable SLI to see if that might cause it.

Dude! I checked and SLI was not enabled, despite thinking it was. I enabled it, and bam! 4ms max while recording!

Thanks! So much better now. I had to move all 3 monitor inputs to the same card (they were split up 2 on one card and 1 on the other before), but now it's all good.

:D had a good laugh about your picture.

I think the dividing between cards might have been the problem, because with one 980 it would also work perfectly.

Are your nvidia drivers up to date? Can you check for me if you are allowed to do more than 2 nvenc sessions with 2 cards installed?

Just updated to the latest drivers now...

And I have no clue what that means or how to check. I'm a newbie to broadcasting/streaming. Let me know what it is exactly and how I can test it..

Edit: and btw, you were right. SLI was disabled after updating, and I checked vmix, 1ms. Sticking the monitors all on the same card was the fix.

When you setup streaming to use hardware encoder and set up more than 2 streams. But I realize you would need something to stream to.
Normally with nvidi game/budget quadro cards, there are only 2 nvenc sessions allowed. This was still the case when 2 cards were input into the system, but I did read this limitation was revised to 2 per card lately.
I will eventually check this myself, but with you having two cards in one system, it made me wonder. ;)
