Hi folks

I watched the June show, purchased a second copy of vMix, and followed the steps in the guide BUT I am still unsuccessful in recording a Skype remote interview. I must be missing omething integral but ....

Video records fine but audio is an issue. The person I called says my volume is low, and I can barely hear them. The recorded session also has very low volume.

I am using an MSI gaming laptop as my main vMix machine.
am using my z440 as my Skype machine? There appears only 3 choices

1. In the Skype setup what do I select for the speakers (CABLE Input , Speakers or FocusRite)

2. What setting do I use in the NDI desktop capture (loopback, Virtual Cable, FocusRite ?)

Is there any step or setting missing by any chance?

Thanks

Whit

I am having a terrible feedback of my own voice when I try to record a skype call. Tried several different things, with no success.

Is somebody having the same issue?

I must admit that when it comes to complicated mix-minus setups, which I do literally every week, I prefer to keep most of the audio handling out of vMix.

I use VoiceMeeter Banana in parallel with vMix, only taking one of its outputs into vMix as a last step. This can result is a frame of slip in A/V sync, but it helps me keep things sensibly organized.

1. In the video I notice neither Martin nor Tom wearing headphones. What prevents my mic from picking up the Skype conversation and recording an "echo" ?

@ calamityjane

First off, how is the audio when just using Skype (no vMix, just a regular Skype call)?
Secondly, I don't believe Martin and Tim actually did a Skype call in the "Fun Time Live Show June Edition", so there was no need for head phones.
(if you watch the May Show, you will see Tim put the earbud in when he connects with Martin over Skype here:
?t=26m44s )
Thirdly, can you draw a diagram of your set-up showing how you have things routed, I'm not sure about the settings you are referring to?
(it should match up pretty closely to the diagram they present here:
?t=25m49s )
Also you can reference all this by looking at their Knowledge base page here:

http://www.vmix.com/know...h-return-video-and-audio

Hope that helps some,

Ice

Thank you.

I feel better if they didn't actually do a Skype call.

My issues now are;

In Skype settings you select the Virtual cable as the microphone, no problem, work perfectly

BUT, in Skype what do you select as the speakers ? If I use the PC'sspeakers, my mic picks it up and "echo's" it. This forces me to wear the headphones, which I would prefer not to use.

I believe I have all connections as mentioned in the referenced document.

Thanks Ice

Your mention of Martin and the ear bud got me thinking.

I believe I have now solved my problem, I ordered a Logitech USB Ear Bud !

This will allow me to hear the other party and my mic will not pickup any part of tht conversation as it is streaming to my ear. Yeah. It should be early next week, excited to give it a try.

Thanks again Ice

Whit

PS Had a nice personal reply from Tom Sinclair of "Streaming Idiots" fame
