being able to see the total cpu usage is neat but scary at the same time
today I noticed while vMix was topping at 50-60 % total was almost constantly at 95-100% checking I noticed that 20-25% of that was gobbled up by the "system and compressed memory"
what is going on ?
was streaming to Youtube , had one VideoCamera duplicate by means of NDI in of said camera , one ND out to remote location and one recording going on on an ssd drive and a couple of titels
doing a GIS on "system and compressed memory" I see a lot of problems with this but with various claimed reasons and solutions
ASUS GL552VW
using standard GPU or NVIDIA made no differenc except I could not get local screencaptures when using NVIDEA GPU

@ doggy Have you tried any of the solutions? This particular one looks pretty simple and promissing: Keep us all posted. Ice Ice

I had something similar happen to me when I moved to Windows 10 and it turned out to be my C920 webcams. When I changed them from the video format of RBG to MJPG, the CPU usage dropped a lot. I suggest opening a blank vMix setup and add one input at a time and watch the CPU to see which one(s) are eating up the CPU.

I would be wary of most internet reports regarding "system and compressed memory" as a lot of the information provided appears to be incorrect.
system and compressed memory is the item in Task Manager that represents the CPU usage of all drivers on the system. This includes any drivers used by capture cards and the graphics card.
So if CPU has gone up compared to the "System" process in previous Windows versions, then there might be a problem with one of the drivers installed. Upgrading all drivers to the latest version will improve things in a lot of cases, and sometimes changing the video format for webcams as suggested will also help.

Martin vMix

Actually, the video link I posted was a quick and "easy" method of updating the NVidia drivers... Most of the solutions seem to be 'driver' related as you state Martin.

few improvements:
updated all sort of drivers (except NVIDIA, not sure if I can use a general one as there does not seem to be an update one for the laptop specifically. Turning of virus scanner ( part of the bloatware on this new laptop) and even windows defender
as I needed a second "camera" from the same camera but to be used with a short delay to allow auto triggered recording (triggered by IR gate hence the extra sec needed of footage ahead) I initially used a NDI input but turns out adding an input from the external 2 of that original input as camera uses way less cpu (10-15%) also

If you use the Logitech driver app it's especially bad when the auto-focus and RightLight features are enabled. Some time ago the XSplit guys did a nice overview of this fact. https://www.xsplit.com/b...-with-xsplit-broadcasterYou can tell Windows to treat the C920 as a generic UVC device, and not install the Logitech driver or camera utilities.
