I have been busy upgrading our PC's to Windows 10 (as the free upgrade expires July 29). Mostly it has been a smooth process, and so for vMix seems to be working fine in our various configurations...
...EXCEPT...

Turns out that our setups with a Thunderbolt 2 Expansion Box (Firmtek) with PCIe does not recognize any cards under Win10. After contact with Firmtek, their response is as below. (Other brands expansion boxes *might* work though...)

Microsoft will not officially support Thunderbolt 1 & 2 devices on Windows 10, though they may work with vendor support. They are focusing their support on Thunderbolt 3.

Check the motherboard or laptop manufacturer's web site for the latest Windows 10 drivers.
If they support Windows 10 a Thunderbolt driver will be available to install, at least this has been the case for ASUS and Dell laptops we use.

Yeap my Thunderbolt card for my ASUS Z97 Deluxe motherboard works great. Tested with Blackmagic UltraStudio Mini Recorder the other day.

Have not found any Thunderbolt driver for the Asus G750. Might be the firware for FirmTek's ThunderTek that's the problem.

My Sonnet Thunderbolt II expansion box and cards are recognized by my Asus ROG G751 Laptop.

Richard,

I ran into a similar problem about a month ago on a client's ASUS ROG G752 laptop. Firmtech was absolutely no help at all. In fact, they told me it could not be done!

After lots of trials, it was as simple as updating the BIOS. Took me a while to find the BIOS update on the ASUS support site... was listed under O/S = Other. Go figure.

works fine in windows 10 asus ThunderboltEX II/DUAL there is a new firmware update for it and software, makes thunderbolt networking possible.

Tom, thanks but did not help updating the bios on the G750. I am reverting to Windows 8.

hellokitty, my problem is on a laptop. I believe you are talking about a card for a desktop.

Tried one more thing, and maybe it helped. I unistalled the Thunderbolt driver (right-clicking in the device manager) and rebooted. After that it seems to work just fine. Still need to do some further tests to see if everyting is stable. And do the same the fix on my other G750. But so far...

My guess is that the update from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 somehow mangled the Thunderbolt driver. Compare some other apps that Windows 10 told me it "repaired".

I am still having a slight problem with the touchpad and USB mouse. But that's hopefully another story.

The older I get, the more I am becoming convinced that "upgrading" is not the way to go. A clean install of an o/s is the only way I will "upgrade" in the future.
