Hi all
Hopefully my title is explanatory.
Been using vMix since version 12 (I think) maybe earlier.
I have always had an issue with any prerecorded files stuttering or stalling in playback in a live stream.
(example - commercial spot, promo, or pre recorded package)
I have tried H.264, .mov, .wmv they all have trouble playing back. I have tried lowering bitrates to a tiny tiny amount.
It happens whether the file is 30 seconds or 30 minutes.
If I get pieces from clients, I don't have this issue. Its only with items that we produce on our editing machine, which is a clone of the broadcast machine, except that it has 32Gb of memory instead of 18Gb.
We use Adobe (CC and After Effects) products to edit.
Any suggestions on how to export and optimize video for smooth playback in a vMix input?

What is the frame rate of the recorded files vs vMix Master Frame Rate?
These should exactly match if possible.

How do I find the Master Frame Rate?
and follow up question: if I am getting pieces from clients (who don't know the MFR) then why would those work and not ours?
I think its an export issue. What is the preferred format for vMix to play back pre-recorded files?
I have not tried MPEG-2, because them I can't use the pieces anywhere else. If I send MPEG-2 to clients for approval, they can't play them.
I would prefer H.264 if at all possible.

I suspect if all your clients are within the US then they would all be exporting files as 29.97.
In which case your Master Frame Rate (found in vMix -> Settings) would also be 29.97
If you are exporting at something like 24fps then the video can look jumpy by comparison.
Also MP4 playback was improved in 17 so I assume your vMix is all up to date?

so far, I have not had any issues throwing previous recordings, some from years ago included DV, mp4, avi. My master 30p as we just need 720p30 for the time being. DV recordings are at 29.97, some of the others are that, 25p or 30p.
Now running all on Win10 (except 3 computers), which seems to have improved many things.
