Just got of the phone with Blackmagic and they gave me some VERY useful information about their drivers.

The last stable driver they recommend for all systems is 10.5.4,

However a fully patched and up to date windows system may use the latest drivers Currently 10.7.0

This is because Microsoft changed the way driver signing works somewhere around windows 8.x

If like me, you have just built a new Win 7 Pro SP1 machine, and can't wait for all the patches to download and install (I got a 1Gbit internet connection and it still takes me days to patch a Windows 7 build) before getting on with installing the VMIX you will discover none of the Blackmagic drivers beyond 10.5.4 will install correctly.

Best solution if you are having trouble installing recent Blackmagic drivers is move up to Windows 10 as soon as possible.

All The Best

Thank you for sharing this, I had problems a few days ago with adding a decklink SDI to an older system. I got quickly around it by using another system, and thought to look at it when I got the time. But you just solved the mystery for me. ;)

I had issues with Quad 2 performance even with an updated Windows 7 Pro 64bit system. VMix External audio dropout after about 20-30 minutes. Martin helped me with this for DAYS. Final resolution was a different ASUS motherboard and to install BMD Quad 2 Driver 10.6.5. So far, problems solved...but still testing.

The particular Windows 7 Update that needs to be applied to unpatched system to get Decklink Drivers above 10.5.4 working is KB3033929, its all to do with Microsoft moving away from SHA-1 to SHA-2 driver signing.

I use an ASUS X99 Deluxe motherboard for my high end V-MIX builds, as they support 40 PCI lane CPU's (and actuality have a lane doubler on them giving you in theory 80 PCI lanes).
