Hey folks!

after 2 years of learning, 2 months of planning and 1 month building and another month testing, I can finally say: I've done it, and it was hell lotta fun!

Step 1.) Learning: I've always wanted to make a Live Video Production. 30. November 2013 was my first day working on a big event video production:
Some friends and I put together 8 or 9! GoPros. We set them up at the location (5k people where there) and just let them run for 2h.
I took the footage, synced and cut the whole production in post. Watch it!

Conclusion: way too much work, with no appreciation, never got aired and REALLY not the way to do.

Step 2.) Planning: The years passed and the demand for live production increased, but with no offer and I recently finished my university (Web - Business & Technology [Self advertisement: If someone needs a website or a custom vMix Web Controller, just ask ;) ]). And video is my hobby. So, I started a business and planed my own setup... with cardboard:
- Cardboard Setup 1
- Cardboard Setup 2

By the time I wanted to use a Yuan SC542-N4 HDMI capture Card and for external audio I wanted the Roland Duo Capture (cheap and good quality and stereo in) (the newspaper on the floor represents the dimensions of the final setup)

From there I was able to configure a nice case and the interior (Hardware):

This is how i finally decided:
- Video In: Yuan SC510-N4 HDMI
- Audio In: Roland DUO capture
- CPU: i7-6700K (OC to 4.6 GHz)
- Motherboard: Asus Z170-A (with room of another 4 or 8 Port Capture device or 4x 1Gigabit PCIe for NDI)
- Ram: 4 x 8GB Kingston HyperX DDR4
- Storage: Samsung 850 Evo M.2 with 500GB
- Quiet Noctua Fans
- Grafix: Asus GTX 960 Strix OC (with 2GB)
- Display/Monitor: LG 25UB55-B 25" 21:9 aspect ratio (to show min. 8 cameras side by side on vmix)
- Power: be quiet! Straight Power 500W
- WIFI: Gigabyte GC-WB867D-I PCIe x1

The case I purchased from casebuilder.com.

Step 3.) Building: I found a very old (same sized) motherboard and grafix card and until the parts arrived from shipping I tried again the layout which will then be in the case.
I also recycled a very old case to give the whole construction some kind of stability (top left in the picture).
Soon after the case parts arrived. And I build them together. DONE!.
And JUST in case you are interested in the inside! :D

Next Step: Put the hardware inside the case! (This was the part that took most of the time)
But after this next step the Version 0.9 looks like this and this and this and this and this. OS setup looks like this. Afterwards I installed vMix, started to OC the CPU, installed the Yuan driver and card, restarted the computer and had a black screen. no response. uff...
As I found out, installing the Yuan capture card resets the BIOs / UEFI. So I reconfigured everything and everything worked just fine :)

Version 1.0 was done.

Next building steps for "Version Level 9999" = Done:
- Paintjob (BTW. I disassembled and assembled it again)
- Cable management
- A nice epic power button
- Plexiglas and WIFI
- Monitor assembly

Done!


Step 4.) Testing
First of all I did a 12h CPU/GPU stress test and it was silent like a charm (those fans!)
Results:
- Max. Temp. 77°C (more than 85°C could harm the CPU)
- at 4 x 4.6GHz 100%
- at 23°C room temperature

I am currently working on a new controller setup. Maybe it is going to be the Akai APC-40 MKII - Ableton Performance Controller.

Also here are some events I was able to work with
- Event A, my friends PC (mine wasn't ready by the time)
- Event B, low latency live camera

by the next month i have planned some live internet broadcasts. I'll keep you up to date.

Yes, I can fully understand that. I indeed had a lot of problems, but somehow they got solved on there own.

That's great. Very compact, I'm just now finalizing my setup, and may need to look this over when I get more time. Thanks for sharing.

Yes, it is very compact but not very light. I worked with wood but metalparts were needed due to the stability.
Although it is way compact and handy than a workstation or Computer case.
