I just updated vMix to version 17, running on a Windows 10 computer. I then proceeded to upgrade to the vMix NDI desktop capture on a computer that is used for presentations (also running windows 10). However, when I run the vMix NDI and try to connect to it from vMix, i get an error on the presentation computer:

System.Runtime.InteropServices.SEHException: External component has thrown an exception.
at vMixDesktopCaptureLibrary.NDISendWin32.bgrx_to_uyvy_cond(IntPtr p_src_bgrx, Int32 src_bgrx_stride, IntPtr p_src_bgrx_old, Int32 src_bgrx_old_stride, IntPtr p_dst_uyvy, Int32 dst_uyvy_stride, Int32 xres, Int32 yres)
at vMixDesktopCaptureLibrary.Win32Utils.CopyRGBA(IntPtr src, IntPtr srcPrev, Int32 srcStride, IntPtr dst, Int32 dstStride, Size sz)
at vMixDesktopCaptureLibrary.DesktopCaptureServer._CaptureThread()

Any ideas what is causing this error or how to fix it? Is it possible to use the old version of the desktop capture with vMix 17 until this issue its resolved, or am I required to use the new version? Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Hi,

Can you confirm the CPU installed on the computer running the vMix Desktop Capture?

Thanks,

Martin

Yes, it is an AMD Phenom II X4 840T running at 2.9GHz. The PC is running Windows 10 Home 64 bit, and has 6GB RAM.

Yes, unfortunately the Phenom II CPUs do not support SSSE3 (not to be confused with SSE3) which is needed to run NDI.

I have made my case on your behalf to NewTek to see if these can be supported, but due to the challenges in doing so it may just be the excuse you need to upgrade that computer!

Is it possible to use the older desktop capture with the new version of vMix? Unfortunately at this time is is not possible to update the computer, nor is it needed as it does everything else just fine. If I cannot continue to use the old version, how can I revert back to vMix 16?

vMix 16 and vMix 16 Desktop Capture are still available on the downloads page here: http://www.vmix.com/software/download.aspx

Scroll down past the vMix 17 Changelog and you'll see the vMix 16 section.

Good luck!

Thanks. I assume that means no to using vMix 17 with the older desktop capture? Slightly disappointing but understandable.
