I upgrade to Vmix 17 and have a problem with External out 1.
I have a blackmagic mini monitor. I produce in 1080p for record and stream but 576i for external out in mini monitor.
In vmix 16 its all right, in Vmix 17 is dropped continuous, sometimes goes fine for a minutes, but return to dropped..
Its a bug? or my mini monitor is dead?
thank you

Roll back to vMix 16 to check your mini-monitor. Also double check you have the latest BMD drivers.

Hi.

I have similar symptoms, but with 1080 50i output. Most of the time all runs smoothly, but then suddenly I get jerky movement for few minutes..

Recently upgraded to NVIDIA 750 based gfx card. Render times and CPU usage got lower but the same issue happens with that too.

Could this be some kind of timing issue in vMix?

Jan

I'm having the same problem as below. Intermittent dropped frames on playback with the BMD Mini Monitor SDI output. Just updated to v.17... 16 worked fine.

I did not see the dropped frames in the vMix interface, just the Mini Monitor output. Everything is 1080/60i. Not sure if it's related, but the system was sometimes using significantly more CPU than it had... sometimes up to 30%.

You can see the problem in the replay at about 48 to 50 minutes in this video.
?t=47m45s It happened other times as well. Any ideas?

Mike

For those seeing External Output issues with Blackmagic cards, can you report the blackmagic driver version installed?

Installed cards:

For input:
2 x DeckLink Mini Recorder (Using HDMI in)

For output:
DeckLink HD Extreme 3D (Using SDI out) to HyperDeck Shuttle SSD recorder.

Additional info: Some times when vMix is restarted Shuttle recorder is not getting the audio, only video. Restart Shuttle and it work again.

Driver: 10.5.4

Jet,

For your information, BlackMagic have put a new update 10.6.5 on their support website today for the DeckLink Mini Recorder, it should fixe the drop frame issue you are having, when you get on the support page click on the blue read more link and it will tell you what fixes the new update does.

See link to the support page here: https://www.blackmagicde...ily/capture-and-playback

I hope this helps with your problem.

Hi!

Unfortunately that update did not solve the problem: the jerky stuttering effect did happen in vMix with v10.6.5 drivers too.

Edit: It seems that I get that stuttering effect less frequent now. I noticed that when the stuttering occured it was not displayed on Recording Information window at all.

Previous days I did a lot of testing 10.5.4 drivers & vMix 17.0.0.77 and found out that if I run Windows Task Manager in Windows 7 before launching vMix, there was no that jerky stuttering effect at all! I did get 2-3 dropped frames per hour but as said I did not caught any stuttering effect.

Not tested this "hack" with 10.6.5 yet, but with 10.5.4 drivers and vMix 17.0.0.77 it seemed always work.

Martin, could it be that some required timing DLL's, libraries, depencies etc are not loaded when only vMix is launched?

Jan

Could you try installing the following plugin update:

http://www.vmix.com/down...d/decklinkplugin4may.zip

To install:

1. Extract dll file from ZIP file
2. Replace the DecklinkPlugin.dll in C:\Program Files (x86)\vMix\avplugins\decklinkplugin with the file extracted

Let me know if this resolves the output problem.

I did caught the stuttering effect with the new one too. Did run Task Manager in the background.

Now tested vMix 17..81 and the stuttering is still there. Desktop Video 10.6.5 installed.

Recording information window displays:

External
Filename: DeckLink HD Extreme 3D 1
Size: 1920x1080
System: PAL 50i
Dropped frames
Total this recording: 0

Jet,

Did you manually install the decklink plugin in the zip as per my post?
The update has not been included with .81 as I didn't hear back if it solved the problem for anybody yet.

Yes I did install "the new one" as I refered in the previous post and unfortunately it did not solve the problem.

BTW, the file size of may version of DecklinkPlugin.dll was exactly the same as the original one that came with 17..77. Was there some updates in the code or was it just recompiled?

Examined the DecklinkPlugin.dll that came with vMix 16 and it is smaller in file size. Now testing it with vMix 17..81.

Edit: So far this vMix v16 version of DecklinkPlugin.dll seems to be much stabler.

vMix v16 version of DecklinkPlugin.dll works very well with 17..83 and have not had any stuttering symptoms with it.

Noticed that vMix 16 version of DecklinkPlugin.dll uses Write and Read buffers, but current vMix 17..83 only seems to utilize Write buffers.

Render times seems also be lower with v16 version of DecklinkPlugin.dll.

I've also had issues with dropped frames. It started a couple months ago when we updated vMix. We had not updated it in the 9 months prior to that because we hadn't had any issues. I did another update two weeks ago, and it solved the problem for one week, but then it occurred again this week. I have updated to 17.0.0.85 and that didn't solve the problem. Sometimes it won't show any dropped frames for up to an hour after we start the external feed, but it still has a stuttering effect. Then the dropped frames will start rapidly adding up, and it will go out of sync with the audio very quickly. We also livestream on youtube, and while there is a very slight stutter, the audio and video stay in sync while our external feed goes out of sync and the stutter gets worse.

Any help would be much appreciated. Here are some specs of the pc we're using.

i7 Quad Core
16GB ram
SSD drive
GTX 570

Hi Jason,

Are you able to confirm the following?

1. The type of blackmagic card and the resolution and frame rate used in External Output
2. The Windows version
3. The blackmagic driver version

Thanks,

Martin

Thanks for your response.

1. Blackmagic DeckLink Quad. 1280x720. NTSC 59.94p.
2. Windows 10 Pro 64-bit
3. 10.6.5

I've tried almost all of the other frame rates and the same issue would occur.

Yes, this happens here too with vMix 17..85.

Hope this will be fixed soon.

For the decklink problem, the trouble is we haven't been able to recreate the problem on our test machines.
We've tried both decklink quad 2 and mini monitor and they seem to work fine hours on end, so it must be system specific.

If anybody out there with stuttering issues could post their full system specs maybe we can create a system with identical specs to test as well:

1. CPU model
2. Motherboard model
3. Card model and which slot in motherboard card is installed
4. Windows version

Thanks,

Martin

i have vmix17 running now on windows 10 and notice that when receieving a rtmp stream over time the audio starts to stutter and video is playout delayed a bit.

when i stop vmix and restart it same thing
when i then restart the machine and start vmix 17 again (85 version ) the rtmp stream plays ok again.

oo and regarding the stuttering
i have a intensity pro with latest drivers and now i also have this stuttering of the audio after hours of output.
1. intensity pro SD video 720x576
2. The Windows version 10
3. The blackmagic driver version latets from website as of today.
