Here is a quick way to bring an Android Phone camera into vMix.

On the Phone, download and install the IP Webcam app (there are both free and paid versions available in the Play Store.

Configure the IP Webcam app to match the ingest settings in vMix (i.e. 1920x1080)

Start the IP Webcam server. It will report an IP address and port (i.e. 10.1.1.28:8080)

Open a browser (i.e. Chrome) and browse to that IP address. A configuration page will be displayed. Select an Audio Source option and then the Video option Browser. Now Click on FULLSCREEN. This opens the webcam up in a fullscreen browser window. Copy the URL. (i.e. http://10.1.1.28:8080/browserfs.html)

You can also control zoom, exposure and quality of the camera from the initial URL (The higher the quality the more lag on the stream)

Now open a Browser input in vMix. Paste the URL and OK.

Smile! You are now on Candid Camera!

You can also try the RTSP Camera Server App which is free. You can then input the Video directly into vMix and don't have to do a Screen Capture.

Obviously has some delay too and you cant control the settings (zoom, focus) in vMix, but it's fine to use it for let's say a view at the audience.

Hi fenki86 and ask.

I've been downloading the RSTP Camera Server to Android and been able to bring the video feed into VLC, using the address rtsp://IP_ADDRESS:5554/camera , however, when trying to bring the video into vMix, it has not been possible. When entering the url it was able to create it as an input, but neither the video or audio is appearing.

Any suggestions to make it work in vMix?

Ideally I would see a NDI android app, but the RSTP Camera Server app also seems fine, if I could bring it into vMix.

I'll have to try again when I'm back home tonight. I remember to get a picture but wasn't using it yet in my productions. I'll give it a try and let you know.

Just tried again - works without any problems. As mentioned it has an obvious delay, but otherwise great.

Just add a new Input, klick on Stream and choose RTSP over UDP

For the URL insert: rtsp://xxx.xxx.x.x:5554/camera

The active camera should then be shown.

For other cameras and options just have a look at the description on the Google Play Site. If you click on "more" you should see the possibilities.

If you want to bring an iPhone into VMix 17, you can use NDICam for iPhone. The big benefit you will see immediately is the very low latency.

Why don't you just use an usb to HDMI converter and hard wire your phone as an HDMI input source?

Exactly....beats the heck out of paying $50 for an app that "might" work well if you spend several hundred more on a great wifi network.

That is very doable as well. Especially if you use an MHL cable. There are a number of methods to bring in camera sources. My original post was one of these. It has the advantage of being free and not using up an input card. Also it makes use of the new Browser input function rather than RMTP...

It's great seeing all of the creative ideas.

for me the rtmp works better as we have a decent network-connection throughout the arena and I can pick up a live-feed of the entrance-area for example... the entrance area is about 150m away from the broadcasting-booth.. as we are on various arenas it would make no sense to lay a cable that long just for the one or two shots during the broadcast...

We have a system for live streaming iphone to vmix over 4G-LTE. Very little delay around 500ms, 1280 x 720 HD, 2,5 MB/s.
We use zero latency RTMP server and Broadcast ME iphone or android https://play.google.com/...io.testingrtmp&hl=sr applicattion.

A wired approach is going to be more robust than anything wireless.

Be aware that if you use MHL/SlimPort output you will need to satisfy the HDCP handshake. I've done this in the past using an HDMI splitter and a monitor.

The same is also true for iOS.
