It's time for another vMix Fun Time Live Show!
http://www.vmix.com/live/
Due to our crazy schedule, this one will be in the US time zone again. However for those European watchers, our NAB videos should be a little easier to watch live.
The show is on Monday March 21st at 9pm Eastern. Check out our guide to see what time it is in your time zone.
We'll be taking a look at the new Blackmagic Design Decklink Quad 2 8xSDI capture card. We'll be discussing NAB and vMix 17 and having a Q and A.

Another great show guys! Had to watch the YouTube VOD though... Tried to watch live on my iPhone from public Wi-fi at the venue I was at (probably 300-400 kbps download bandwidth) but only managed a couple of times to pick-up the stream for a minute or so. Not sure if that is a DaCast issue to lower bandwidth users or a Wi-Fi issue from the venue I was at (very frustrating none-the-less). Just thought I would mention it in case anyone else had similar issues with the LIVE Show.

After getting up at 2AM to watch the show the stream was buffering and it was impossible to continue watching. Not good at all! Caught the rest via Utube. I have plenty of up/download speed here!
Seems that the stream the vMix guys send out should be much lower to try to avoid these issues or maybe send out more that one stream at different speeds. It really was a shame to be presented with these sorts of problems.
When inviting people to watch live from all over the world it really needs some thought put into streaming to make sure that the highest amount of people will not be effected by buffering.

Buffering is one of the reasons I really like YouTube streaming. There are many great stream providers today but YouTube automatically sets the stream rate for the user's throughput (download band width). You don't have to put up multiple stream rates. It doesn't matter whether you use a desktop or mobile device to watch the show. The other thing about YouTube is there is no limit as to other many people can watch your live show. ~George

I agree George. Youtube streaming is just made simple, and works! One downside though, is that there is no pay-per-view option on Youtube.

We may have to look at dropping the quality if people are having issues. Main issue with YouTube Live is that it's blocked in Germany!

A YouTube user can setup a pay-per-view or rental channel in YouTube if their channel meets certain criteria ( https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/3249127?hl=en). YouTube paid content is not currently available to all content partners. ~George

It's just the buffering. Then as another issue ... it's worth thinking of providing for others with a slow connection.. Think about poor 'ol Tom on his boat with his Iphone or anyone on a public wifi wanting to catch the show. Tom sends his show out in two separate streams (lets call it slow & fast) which seems to solve them problem. I sure you guys will work somethin out, thanks anyway. Martin

Main issue with YouTube Live is that it's blocked in Germany! vMixSupport, according to a Twitter connection who lives in Germany (@rewboss), "You can watch livestreams in Germany but not broadcast them. Reason: licence required for public broadcast..." Maybe you could do a test YouTube livestream with someone that lives in Germany? ~George
