I am setting up vmix to record our worship services at my church. I need to be able to output the video (along with the audio) to a DVD recorder for a backup to the digital recording and to send to our Nursery (via coax cable). I purchased an Nvidia video card with DVI and HDMI out. I have DVI going to the monitor and HDMI going into a HDMI to composite converter which I then take into the DVD recorder. This works, but the quality of the video on the DVD recorder is not where I would like it to be. What else could I use to improve on this?

Your setup seems fine but DVD quality is not HD anyway... what's the exact problem of "quality" ?
(HDMI to component should be a little better)

I am not looking for HD output. We are only using SD cameras. It appears there is some lag in the video coming out of the HDMI and it doesn't look as sharp as the video I am recording on the computer with Vmix.

Use addtional blackmagic intensity pro card to output vMix via composite output.

yes, the problem is probably the HDMI to analog conversion... could you check the HDMI output on an HDMI equipped screen ? If the quality is OK, then you know you have to find another HDMI to analog converter, if not, then maybe you'll have to find a SVHS output equipped video card to avoid the HDMI conversion.
My 2 cents.
