Hiddily Ho,
What we are hoping to accomplish is this.
-vMix playing out 24/7/365 playing a video list of videos on a loop. -Folder full of video files the video list is pulling from. -Client adds a new video to that folder and vMix automatically adds the video to list and includes it. The update doesn't have to happen immediately, it could be once every 30 minutes or so.
Think this is doable with scripting?
If the video list is pulling from a .m3u file I can get windows to update the .m3u every 30 minutes. As opposed to updating a current video list would it be something like having vMix delete the current video list/.m3u input, reload an input from the new .m3u and then add it to the playlist?
Any thoughts would be appreciated

What is the vMix integration with a dropbox sync'd folder? Unless I am missing something, which I could be, maybe a third party app or plug in, it is still just a folder on the hard drive that vMix has to monitor and update play/video lists with. Thanks. -Jim

I want also like to use vMix (pro) not only for real time but like a payout machine!
I am editor of one small TV station which broadcasting (IPTV) for almost two years and i have done that till now like this > Potplayer for making playlists and OBS for capturing and streaming! Potplayer can watch for folder and import videos into playlist – OBS and vMix can’t do that – And that is very simple! Problem is that i must have predefines length of videos because i put advertising on list also!
Now i saw that vMix can do that much better than anticipated – I am thinking to buy pro version but!
I notice that vMix is mostly created for real time events – What about predefined content! I will also use it for real time work, but not all time – I need to predefine playlist!
First problem! For now i created way for allowing for myself to make a good and easy list I make files and then rename it by this pattern
0999 0938 000 - ****** - PIC_0464.mp4 0999 0938 001 - ****** - PIC_0465.mp4 0999 0938 002 - ****** - PIC_0466.mp4 0999 0939 000 - ****** - PIC_0439.mp4 0999 0939 001 - ****** - PIC_0441.mp4 0999 0939 002 - ****** - PIC_0442.mp4 0999 0940 000 - ****** - PIC_0443.mp4 0999 0940 001 - ****** - PIC_0444.mp4 0999 0940 002 - ****** - PIC_0445.mp4 0999 0941 000 - ****** - PIC_0436.mp4 0999 0941 001 - ****** - PIC_0437.mp4 0999 0941 002 - ****** - PIC_0438.mp4 0999 0942 000 - ****** - PIC_0422.mp4 0999 0942 001 - ****** - PIC_0423.mp4 0999 0942 002 - ****** - PIC_0424.mp4 0999 0942 003 - ****** - PIC_0425.mp4 0999 0942 004 - ****** - PIC_0426.mp4 0999 0942 005 - ****** - PIC_0427.mp4
It is obvious that i have several columns of numbers
First is number for playlist Second where i am writing numbers backward (REVERSE) is some kind of number for a show (or number of inputs on list) Next number is number of files in that specific show or part of program ****** There can be some description Last one is original number from camera
First 3 columns decide everything – If you look those files in folder which is sorted by letters everything will be totally normal – I will like that vMix list also can allow me to put whole bunch of files and then sort them by columns (letters) – Now i can’t do that Second problem If i have for instance 1000 files (hundreds of hours for broadcast) i have problems when i want to put new files on list – vMix always put them on a bottom – There is no any easy way (ctrl + arrow or ctrl + PG up) to move files in list not to mention to select several of them and move them with arrow or page up page down buttons
I want to improve my work because i can automate adverts and labels for broadcast trough vMix but mentioned problem is hard to solve for now – Any inputs or suggestions will help!
Third problem When i record something sometimes i must break recording to make pause for adverts – i mention that in a way – we will be back after advertising, and i finish recording – Now problem is that if i make advertising to be at some point of time (for instance 4 times in one hour) how to change that according to some specific length of that video
I need to tell predefined advert not to be shown in that period and to put adverts at the end of that specific video – I have often case like that which possibly can destroy that predefined way of work - Sometimes that videos is 13 minutes and sometimes 16 min – That depends from show to show! Any idea how to solve that?
Is there any option to make “conditions” in this manner?
Thanks to all in advance – I hope i will not still this topic!

I just searched for and found this forum.
It would be great if vMix could search a directory and automatically add files to the list.
Eg. Someone could upload a video using FTP app on their phone and it automatically places it into the playlist.

There are many solutions to do this using the API commands and external or internal scripting or using datasources, start by reading the manual to understand how playlists work in vMix or how to add/remove an input via tha API.
Or just use an external app that handles playlists (like VLC for example) or just use a third party PlayOut system
This issue has been discussed many times in the forum, take time to serach and experiment
