yes, vMix is fantastic!. But not recording overlays means you also stream without overlays. If you also need to stream with overlays you have to use an external recorder or streamer with Fullscreen (or External) as the source. For example, by connecting a free display port on the graphics card to a Teradek Vidiu.

you can decide whether to use the stream to exit the Vmix 1 or 2 with and without overlay, through Flash Media Encoder.

In order to record a clean feed (without overlay/s) and stream with overlay/s from vMix's "virtual device camera" you need the 4K or Pro edition of vMix. Then:
- set Outputs for Fullscreen AND External 2 to include Overlays
- set Output for Recording/External to not include Overlays
- in External Output settings, for External 2, select "vMix video / streaming"
- turn External on (click on "External" button in vMix's main window)
- in FMLE/Open Broadcaster (or your software based streamer) select "vMix Vide External 2" as source
