I like Famous Picture approach, however I dont think there is a need for two buttons - "Stop" and "Recording/Streaming". I think one button that changes color from normal to red and caption from "Start recording" to "Recording" is enough. The same would go for "Start stream" and "Streaming".

A START button that becomes a STOP button with a RECORD indicator keeps it very simple and mostly foolproof. Recording and streaming are the two most important functions during a broadcast. I have lost many recordings due to operator error, thinking a recording was in progress when it wasn't!
If the START button changes to RECORDING, there is no clear indication on how to STOP the recording.

Hi Martin, 1-The video format is "mkv". 2-The problem is recorded in the video file below. I created this file in the format "mkv" that just does not open the version 4. Pause VmixI noticed that disabling the option "automatically pause after transition" solves this problem. 3-Below is a link that describes the problem parameters "overlay". Overlay Taking the idea of "Famous Pictures" I add the following: My idea is to arrange the buttons and set the transition effect speed. Also remember the transition effect to use next time. These buttons interact with the color of the windows "preview" and "output". When pressed the color changes to "green" to remind the operator that the "video output" was used this transition. The other button is "orange" because it will be used in the video that is in "preview". When the operator clicks on the orange button, this will turn gre en and the other will take its color. The idea of the colors is to remind the operator to use an input transition and one output transition. If the user clicks the button that was green, the transition repeats and the color of the buttons will not change. Link: Vmix Effects ArrangeMauro

Thanks for all your suggestions. I especially like the idea of allowing the user to change all the transition buttons to the effect of their choice. This will most likely appear in v5 but as v4 is feature locked only bug fixes will be added at this time.
Mauro,
1. Make sure the 64bit Haali Media Splitter is installed if you are using the 64bit vMix. The latest installer on the Haali web site includes both.
It also looks like Vista is being used, if so I would strongly recommend upgrading to Windows 7.
2. This is by design, the "Automatically pause after transition" works for both inputs and overlays.
3. The position preview only supports 2d at this time. Any rotate or 3d adjustments will not show in the preview.
Famous Pictures,
The recording indicator would not fit on some monitors (such as on laptops). Would it be ok if instead the entire top bar in vMix changes to red when recording?

An update to v4 is now available with the following fixes:
* Option to save the entire video delay available in dropdown list. * Video Delay duration and positions now show correct times. * Saving a Video Delay clip will add the time to the title bar when opening as new input. * Corrected incorrect timestamps on video delay clips.
A new download link has been added at the top of this thread.

Hi, Martin
Version 7.4.045
When you start video delay for the first time, the image on the "Delay Output" is in real time. After recording pause and resume, "Vmix" plays a part of the "Delay Output" before and loses sync in real time the following recordings.
Mauro.

How about having a drop down menu for the presets (open, save, last, close) then shift all the buttons to the left. Use the extra space on the right for the status indicators.

Dundurs wrote: 4. since introducing “built in audio” feature, when using two or three hauppauges, the audio channels get mixed up - hauppauge1 video uses hauppauge2 audio and so on. before this feature was introduced, everything worked fine when leaving audio drop down blank
Today I also noticed that the same problem exists when using 4 intensity pro + 2 decklink sdi cards. If leave built-in audio on audio dropdown, I have no sound. When I assign the corresponding audio input to intensity pro video input, everything works perfectly. Regards, Dundurs

Hi, Martin and Famous Pictures Let me contribute to your idea, using the status line of the playing time of the video. The idea to arrange the buttons "preset" is also good. Link: Status Recording and Streaming Martin, the format "mkv" worked in the 32 bit version. You can send the link of Haali 64 bit? Mauro.

Status line placement of RECORD and STREAMING also looks good.

Hi Mauro,
If you are using Vista you will also need to find a 64bit codec for MPEG4/H264 to play back that particular recording. Windows 7 includes these codecs which is why I recommend upgrading to Windows 7.

Martin vMix

Note: Recording and Streaming with the same computer, profile and hardware setup on both versions...
Vers. 7.3.0.50 CPU = 22% Vers. 7.4.0.45 (32 or 64bit) CPU = 75% (losing frames)
I updated to version 4, saw the problem, uninstalled version 4 then installed version 3 no problems. Did not try a clean install on version 4 (uninstall program, delete folder).

What recording settings are you using?
EDIT: Easiest way is to click Export in settings and email us the config file. Also, what graphics card and cpu are you using?
