I like to perform a slow zoom on images to create a certain atmosphere. Now I use the first part of the cross zoom effect with maximum delay, but a real slow zoom effect should be perfect. This zoom should have no transition, but only zoom in on an input with a particular speed.

You can do that already with a Virtual set. Create one from scratch, define the zoom in and out settings, zoom speed and go ahead.

The preview can't be selected as input for the virtual set, so I have to make a virtual set for every input I want to zoom in. (I've got a library with a lot of images to choose from)
An extra effect button is much easier to work with.

Various transition effects have been asked for earlier, for example Gradient wipe transitions. What you ask for seems rather to be an effect applied to the currently active input (ie "Output"). Other apps typically refers to this ass "Video FX", eg grain, blur, lens flare, etc. Actually, some Video FX (eg chroma key, color adjust) are to some extent available in the individual Inputs. To sum up, I think a feature that applies Video FX to the Output would for sure be nice, but requires a lot off development efforts, including how to solve the UI. Meanwhile, perhaps the following workaround might help you (tweaked for your need): - put your "library" of images in a folder - add an Input with that folder ("Library") - use "Library" as the background of a blank Virtual Input ("Blank") - set the zoom speed you want for "Library" - make a shortcut, eg letter "Z", used for two things in this order: 1. CutDirect to "Library" 2. SelectIndex on "Library" to index 1 (Close up) - male a shortcut, eg letter "X", used for one thing 1. SelectIndex on "Library" to index 1 (Full) During production, right click "Library" and select which image you want to use. Press "Z" to cut to it with a zoom. The drawback is that you have to press "X" later on before the library is used again. (I have found no way to automate the return to Full after the image have left Output.

I don't know how to add an input with a folder. If I select 'Photos' as an input then I can select a folder, but then it will start a slideshow.

Photos is the one. And make sure that the Photos Input's settings (coq wheel) for "Automatically XXX" os off. If for example "Automatically Play with Transition" is enabled, it will start a slide show.

@ wwdv
Also, if you only want to use a single image from your "Photos" folder, set the "Transition" to "0" in "SlideShow Settings" and select the image you want.
