Hello,

I was wondering if anyone has done this before or is there something built around I could buy.

Is there a way to restrict the Vmix web interface to allow only one thing to be clicked. Or maybe there is another smart approach I'm not thinking of. I essentially want a non-vmix user to turn an overlay on/off from quite a distance away from the VMix computer. The person is non tech savvy so would rather they could not do anything else but switch this one overlay.

Anyway if you have done something like this before I'd be interested in hearing any wonderful solutions. I guess I could code a web interface that did that function through the VMix API. Seems a lot of work when maybe there is something far simpler I just didn't think of doing :)

Thanks,

Speegs

Discovered by adding shortcuts to the functions you can at least get the user on a page without too many other options to fiddle with :)

I guess access controls on the VMix web interface is a bit much to ask for.. but that would be really useful for this one job.

Hi

Thanks to the help of user Maxvolp and his project I made a webinterface (with only a few buttons) that lets the user only update counters (scoring) through a webpage (from pc, tablet etc).
As it is based on the standard API commands making a overlay turn on/off would be possible

see his post regarding his webinterface

Guess something like this could also be used with smartphones: piHotKeys

Looks like it could do the trick, thanks for the pointer. I like all the source is in the zip file, so shouldn't be too hard to simplify down to a couple of buttons only.

Just an update. That did do the trick. Thanks to those who provided the starter code I could hack up to build this terribly simple interface.

It's nothing you can't do with the VMix interface already, but the point of this is was to lock the user out of all the other functions of the VMix web interface so they can only do what they need to do which is switch an overlay on/off away from the the VMix operator.

It's javascript + storing the settings with cookies driving Vmix and yes seems to work from Apple Devices. The config docks away.

Of course you need to be on the same Lan as VMix like anything else hitting up the VMix API.
