I'm getting ready to do a live event stream. I'll have 2 cameras plus a remote desktop showing Powerpoints. I've figured out how to set these up and switch between them, but the audio is a problem. I want a single audio input to override everything else, and not have to mess with it for each video source. I'm new to Vmix, and it's a lot more complicated than other software I've used in the past.

It seems like the easiest thing might be to just use Vmix as a video switcher and set it up as the video source in FMLE, where I can set the single audio source (this is basically what I've done in the past with other software). Is there a better way to do this without going that route?

Hi,

Check out the audio mixer:

http://www.vmixhd.com/help15/Mixer.html

You can turn on or off sources and choose which ones will turn on automatically (or not)

Regards,

Martin

Thanks. Unfortunately, I'm a novice at this, and the help file seems to be written for people with professional experience. I don't understand very much of it. I'm a volunteer with lots of computer expertise but no real video production experience.

So could someone please explain how to use the Mixer for someone who doesn't know what an audio bus is? :)

1. Make sure the audio source you wish to use has been added to vMix.
If it is a microphone on the computer go to Add Input -> Audio Input

2. Open the audio mixer

3. All the audio sources are there, anything with a green speaker icon will be record and streamed.

4. Anything with the two arrows icon green will be turned on automatically.

5. If you only want to use one audio source, click all of the green arrow icons to turn them off, then do the same for all the green speaker icons (except master).

6. Finally click the audio source speaker icon you want to make it green and you're done.

thanks 1 user thanked admin for this useful post.
