Just looked into them, looks like they are perfect for vmix. But since they have sdi out, what presets are you talking about?

Looks like a very interesting camera. Actually, I've been waiting for a long time for Axis to launch something like these. The 5914 is 720p and the 5915 1080p. Press release with video link.

I assume webcare means "presets" in the sense of Axis' meaning, that is the camera's set of definable pan/tilt/zoom positions. Not sure how that would be implemented though.

Axis has some kind of API. One idea would be support for camera control inside vMix. For example allow quick positioning by clicking anywhere in the Preview window, thus "move" the camera's center to the clicking point. And have pan/tilt/zoom control in the Input's preview.

Would probably require a significant amount of effort from Martin and his team. And to make that effort worthwile the implementation should be prepared for/function with other PTZ cameras.

(Here's a demo of Tricaster's implementation of PTZ control).

We are using the Axis V5914 with great pleasure since 6 month.
The V59 series is done for livestreaming and has a very smooth zoom compare to other CCTV Robotic Cams.

Is it possible adding the Axis Cams to the new PTZ feature in Vmix 17 ?
There is a Axis API available.

A couple of weeks ago I informed Axis' product manager about vMix's forthcoming PTZ support and suggested he should make contact with Martin. (I also mentioned NDI).

We are semi happy with our V5915. Great zoom and OK image quality. But there is no way to manually set a color temperature, only presets and a auto setting are available. Also, a small jerk when switching panning direction makes us hesitant to consider it for following a moving talent (eg a presenter at a conference). We use both the Axis joystick and the Axis camera companion for control. But for video settings we are forced to use the camera's web interface which is rather tricky.

I just received the camera and the quality is very good.

just received the V5915. Found this thread looking for a way to control from within vMix. This is my first PTZ, so I'm excited to see what it will add to my production.

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but I am still looking for a way to control this unit through vMix. Is there a way to control the PTZ functions on this (AXIS V5915)? I see the drop down menu has certain manufacturers listed... but AXIS not being one of them, is there a way to "make it work"? I have tried a few times, and I'm pretty sure I already know the answer to the question. But, I would hate to give up without asking the forum first. Thanks

We are also testing the Axis V5915 with wirecast, but if it would be possible to use the PTZ functionality in vMix we definitely would switch to vmix.
Could you please give us a statement if you are adding functionality for the axis camera in the future or if you are not even considering it ??

Thx in advance

We have also got hold of a V5915 and would like it to work with Vmix PTZ controller.
Anyone heard anything from the Vmix team about this? Is there something they are looking into or is it a no go?

As a temporary hack/workaround I implemented preset selection in vb.net scripts. It's not a proper replacement but may help until vMIX implementes proper PTZ integration ()

Code:

Dim webClient As New System.Net.WebClient
webClient.DownloadString("http://<camaddress>/axis-cgi/com/ptz.cgi?gotoserverpresetname=<preset name>")

So, can we assume that Axis's PTZ cameras (which I think use the VAPIX protocol, link to API in Streamevent's post above) will not be supported?

Seems that Axis's PTZ support ONVIF, so check if you want to add your thoughts to the feature request ONVIF PTZ other IP Cameras

Axis was one of the founders of ONVIF in 2008, and continues to take an active role in its development. Today there are thousands of ONVIF conformant ...
