What recording settings are you using and what is the full error message?
There have been no changes to the MP4 recording in quite a while, so the recent update shouldn't make a difference.

My guess is the Size or Frame Rate selected in the recording window is not one of the standard sizes MP4 supports (720x480, 1280x720, 1920x1080)

I have been experiencing a similar issue with vmix 15.0.0.83 running on 2 different machines as well. I am recording .mp3 1920x1080 30p 5mbs and have Hardware checked. my system has locked up on the last 3 uses about 15 minutes in. I am simultaneously streaming and recording but doing this on a very powerful system and recording to a solid state drive. One system is a desktop and one is a laptop so it has been entirely different hardware setups. I get a complete computer freeze and a buzzing or static noise . restart machine and it seems to work fine from that point on.

There is another thread on the forum re. this and Martin's advice is to not turn on the Hardware check unless you have specific hardware. Have a search to see if you can find the reference.

Here is the thread
thanks 1 user thanked ask for this useful post.

I am not quite sure that addresses the issue I am experiencing. I am not aware that I am experiencing any dropped frames but rather my entire machine is locking up. This is taking place on 2 different systems, both with Intel i7 quad core processors and both with Nvidia graphics cards, a 870 desktop card and a 970 card on a laptop. None of the test results on that other thread reflect any system seizures.

Hi,

It may be a driver or common piece of hardware used by both systems.

If it only happens with MP4 recording, try another recording format to narrow it down.
Also try disabling the hardware encoding to see if the graphics card might be contributing to the problem.

Note that whole system freezes tend to indicate either a bad driver, or faulty hardware such as some bad memory.
As it is happening on two systems, a bad driver might be the culprit, check to see the latest drivers for graphics are installed
and windows is up to date. It also wouldn't to do a virus scan using Microsoft Security Essentials.

Regards,

Martin
