I have watched the youtube videos of VMix and they end by getting on the Internet. Is vMix compatible with the youtube live? I have not found anything that addresses this question.
If it is compatible, please furnish the steps to do this.

Short answer: YES!
It's not so much about "compatibility" as it is about having a 'YouTube' account...
The process is really not much different for sending a stream to any CDN, so the steps really start there.
You'll need 'Encoding' software (FMLE or FFmpeg) to use either within vMix's streaming module or independently.
Once you have that, your CDN (YouTube Live, UStream, or whoever) will provide you with the necessary 'steps' and/or URL's to stream to.
There is a bit of a learning curve with it all, but it's not to hard to figure this all out.
I hope that helps.

I have the ffmpeg but I can't come up with the right stuff to get it to stream to hangout on the air.
Any other suggestions?
Thanks.

@ allamosa

Are talking "Google Hangouts"?
Perhaps you should describe 'exactly' what you are trying to accomplish and what steps you have already taken, otherwise it's a little confusing to comprehend your precise 'issue', which makes it difficult for others to help out or point you in the right direction.
Typically, if you want to use vMix as a video 'source' in another app or stream to a CDN with FMLE/FFmpeg, you'll have to set-up and 'activate' the "External" button in vMix (buttons at bottom of vMix window).

What I am trying to do is use vMix to go live on Youtube.
The "start hangout on air" on youtube lets you see what will be broadcasting whenever you go live.
I am trying to get the vMix to use the cameras and other features of it on the broadcast on Youtube.
I'm sorry but I don't know how to make it any plainer than that.

OK, I think I got it...
Broadcasting to 'Quick (Google+ Hangouts On Air)' method with YouTube Live, yes?

As indicated above, you'll need to 'activate' the "External" feature of vMix for 'Google+ Hangouts on Air' to recognize it as a source.
(I assume you already have the "Google+ Hangouts" app that needs to be downloaded for this to work)
Once vMix is outputting a signal to "External" you should be able to select "vMix Video" as the 'source' in the Google+ Hangout settings.
The Google+ Hangouts app will display a mirror image (to you) of whatever vMix is outputting.
You will be able to start your 'Broadcast' at any time from the 'Google+ Hangout' window (green 'Start Broadcast' button)
That is pretty much it, the key is ensuring that vMix is sending a signal to "External" (it will be highlighted in 'RED' when activated or clicked on and display a red EXT icon just above the 'Program' window).
Hope that helps.

If I am wrong on this or any part of this below, someone please offer up a correction.

This may be the same person that contacted me on my YouTube channel for help with a similar issue?

I had a similar issue using trying to use vMix 15 and YouTube live streaming. Martin helped me with this and got me back on track quickly.

I ran into a problem with I tried to live stream on YouTube with vMix 15. I believe that now, vMix 15 defaults to FFMPEG in the Stream window settings (???). I think that setting is used when also using Wirecast in association with vMix (???).

At the bottom of the Stream widow in the settings window box you will see at two settings / choices for Application in the drop-down (FMLE or FFMGEG). The latter (FFMPEG) is if you are using Wirecast with vMix. Set it to FMLE which will give you the same settings in the advanced live streaming window we've always used.
I changed the setting it to FMLE and live streaming worked correctly.

Hi vMix friends, I`m quite new in this streaming area an need a simple step by step tutorial how to use my stadard HD vMix 15 to show on a big screen some videos from Youtube.

After I upgraded from vMix 14 to 15, nothing happens when paste the videos url adress in the "Flash/RTMP" input window and click OK.
