Problems Adding Audio Input (line in, Audio Interface)

Hi. I cannot add my Audio Interface ( Lexicon I-Onix U42S) as an audio input. It shows on the list, but when I choose it, it gives one of the two error messages: 1) Unspecified error, or 2) Invalid Pointer. This is frustrating, since I cannot connect external sound via AI using XLR because of this issue. Oftentimes I am forced to use camera mics when I had professional audio available. Any ideas how I could solve this? Sure, I could pull an extra cable from the Phones Out of the AI and into the sound card, but that's extra rigging, and yet another possible point of failure on the system I try to keep as simple as possible. Great - if not amazing - software, otherwise! Thanks. PVP attached the following image(s): Invalid pointer.PNG (66kb) downloaded 7 time(s).You cannot view/download attachments. It looks like the Lexicon is degined to interface with a DAW program (Cubase) rather than the Windows sound system. That is probably a clue to you issue. You need to use a program that converts ASIO to WDMA such as JACK. Short term, run a cable from the audio out of the Lexicon to the audio in of you computer.

I installed JACK and then installed the driver for the AI, and now when I start vMix, it has no problems with the U42S.
Thanks a lot, folks. I really appreciate it.

This sounds very interesting to me. Although I looked at JACK (at least tried, not sure I found the right one) and did not understand. I included this topic in my related question in the vMix Audio Discussions Forum. Please go there and consider if it is in your interest to focus the discussion there.
