Anyone else playing around with vMix and Skype bringing Skype directly into #vMix as a input? Your feedback will be much appreciated.
I'm taking a little different route than that suggestion by Martin here (http://forums.vmix.com.au/default.aspx?g=posts&t=2518). Of course Martin's method of doing this is probably the best way. I just could not get it to work correctly. I'm using a Windows 8.1 laptop with an awful audio card that is tough to deal with when it comes to audio volume. That being audio level is hard to control (loud).
Here's how my setup goes.
I'm using Full Screen output from vMix to a TV via a HDMI and the TV audio out as a audio feed to mixer. It works but still trying to nail down the audio volume/level.
If I get everytrhing working correctly I may put up a YouTube video if anyone is interested.
Cheers!

George, I think you already do podcast stuff but I went back in my youtube history to find this video. This guy has a good video for doing skype on a podcast. (the skype stuff is around the 10:00 minute mark). I would think for the video aspect of it, you can send out the skype video screen of the laptop running skype, to a video input on your vmix production PC. Maybe the youtube video above will give some tips on a setup that may work for you. Tim

That guys setup is way more robust that my small-budget studio. I have been doing Skype video integrated calls with vMix via desktop capture for a while and that works great. But I want step it up a bit. I'd like my Skype callers to be able see what I see on the vMix output screen during our shows. The only thing I don't have 100% is the audio and that's more a fault of my laptop audio card than plus I'm about 90% deaf. Put those two together and it can be a bit of a challenge. ~George

GeorgeR, here is what I do to get Skype into vMix:
* Two separate computers running Skype * Video is brought into the vMix computer via HDMI * vMix computer has 2 AverMedia C985 cards to receive the HDMI single * Audio is brought into the vMix computer via my Mackie mixer
I used to use Desktop capture to get the Skype video but found there was a slight audio/video sync issue. Moving to HDMI that is no longer an issue.
I could do it with just one Skype computer, but having two means I can have each person (co-host and guest) full screen on the separate systems. To do this, Skype computer 1 calls Skype computer 2 and the guest and co-host. Therefore, guest and co-host can see and hear each other plus see and hear me. I turn the video and audio off on Skype computer 2.
Another not obvious thing I do, after doing it wrong at first, was to make sure the monitor on both Skype computers is a 1080p monitor so they send me a 1080p feed, which is how we record the show.
With this setup, plus two C920 webcams, photo slideshows, local desktop capture for website display, Fullscreen output to a monitor behind me, streaming at 480p (due to upload limits) and recording at 1080p, I am able to keep the CPU usage during the show to around 25%-35% on my Core i7 system.
