I made some virtual sets up in an earlier version 14.0.0.80 of vMix, to get the thumbnail for each virtual set I took a image snapshot of the programme output in vMix, I saved it as a .jpg file, I then took the snapshot into the same programme that Martin uses which is Paint.Net and I changed the image to the same size of the virtual set thumbnails in vMix 320x180 96 dpi, bit depth 24, I then saved it as a .jpg file, then I copied the file into my virtual set folder, I then opened up vMix brought in my virtual set into vMix and the thumbnail was there. But then I updated vMix to 14.0.0.112 and when I opened my virtual sets they have lost the thumbnail, see below picture.
Len56 attached the following image(s):
No Thumbnail.jpg (236kb) downloaded 5 time(s).

Hi,

Sorry, the thumbnail jpg has always been the preview only for Add Input, it has never shown in the previews next to the virtual set regardless of version.
If you want the background to show in those previews you will need to put the background image in the XML as per below:

That is what I want the jpg thumbnail to do show in the preview only for Add Input only

No I don't want the background to show in the previews I have already done this in the XML file.
This is what I have in the virtual folder XML File:
<virtualSet>
<input name="Background" x="0" y="0" zoomX="1" zoomY="1" rotateX="0" rotateY="0" rotateZ="0" dynamic="True" />
<input name="Screen" x="0.581" y="0.274" zoomX="0.29" zoomY="0.29" rotateX="0" rotateY="0" rotateZ="0" dynamic="True">a.png</input>
<input name="Frame" x="0.581" y="0.274" zoomX="0.29725" zoomY="0.3085" rotateX="0" rotateY="0" rotateZ="0">screen.crop.png</input>
<input name="Talent" x="0.392" y="-0.33" zoomX="0.28" zoomY="0.28" rotateX="0" rotateY="0" rotateZ="0" dynamic="True">talent.png</input>
<input name="Foreground" x="0.4" y="-0.929" zoomX="0.3685" zoomY="0.34" rotateX="0" rotateY="0" rotateZ="0">foreground.crop.png</input>
<zoom name="Close Up" x="-1.654" y="1.388" zoomX="4.319" zoomY="4.319" rotateX="0" rotateY="0" rotateZ="0" />
<zoom name="Medium Shot" x="-0.84" y="1.1" zoomX="2.101" zoomY="2.101" rotateX="0" rotateY="0" rotateZ="0" />
<zoom name="Full" x="0" y="0" zoomX="1" zoomY="1" rotateX="0" rotateY="0" rotateZ="0" />
<zoom name="Custom" x="-2.01005" y="-0.949" zoomX="3.458" zoomY="3.458" rotateX="0" rotateY="0" rotateZ="0" />
</virtualSet>

In the XML file posted there is no placeholder image for the background input.
Unless you specify a static image there nothing will show up in the thumbnail preview.

Hi Martin,

reason for having NO placeholder image in the XML file is because I want to use a .WMV file, this file is so I can have a moving background NOT a static background.
I add a input of my virtual set, then add a input of the .WMV file which is named (background.wmv), then I go to setup and add the background.wmv file as the background, I then goto the background.wmv file and play and loop the file.

In the Virtual Set folder is:
a.png
foreground.crop.png
screen.crop.png
talent.png
thumbnail.jpg
background.wmv
config.xml
All the above makes up my virtual set.

I emailed you late last year with a zip file of my virtual sets named Lens virtual sets.

I understand, however for the image to appear in the thumbnail previews you will need to create a static jpeg
and place it in the XML. You can still select the WMV for that layer because you have the dynamic flag set in the XML
but for performance reasons the thumbnails are generated only from static images.

Thank you Martin for your quick reply.

I am very new to XML so could you please show me how to do this in the XML file and what line it would have to be inserted on.

Len.
