For a client we need to be able to delay the videostream with a few minutes. It's a huge festival, they want to stream some stages, but want us to be able to control what is on the stream. If an artist or the public would do something that would not be nice to stream, they want us to be able to prevent it from being streamed.

Is there a way to make some kind of delay in the stream, so we can control what is streamed?

I would suggest having another computer setup for the actual stream, it would work something like this:

Main PC with vMix
- Contains a capture card with input and output (Something like a BM Decklink)
- Capture and mix everything on this PC, output the program via Decklink (using external output)
- Set a delay of however you long need in vMix

Secondary PC has capture card and is used for streaming the output from the vMix PC.

You'll need 2 operators in this case, and with that delay you can monitor on the vMix machine in real-time and then if you have unfriendly content you can simply switch to other content on the machine used for the live stream. Ideally, this stream PC could have 2 camera inputs and you could just switch to another non-offensive camera.

I would use the Video Delay input. By doing this you can specify how much of a delay you want. If you want it at 10 seconds just slide the bar over to 10 seconds. You now make that your Output. So now if you need to "hit the bleep buttom" you just switch to either another live camera of something other than what is on stage or have another input you want to use until the "bleep section" is passed in the "Video Delay" input. After it has passed you can switch back to the Video Delay input.

You will however, want to tie the audio to each camera (input). Since you are using the Video Delay as you actual Output footage, you need the audio to be delayed as well. In our case we use the Video Delay as "instant replay" but we are always staying with "live audio". Your case would be reversed.

I hope this helps.

Also, if it is only audio that could be inappropriate you would be able to leave the delayed video as the active output and just turn the audio on/off. If there could be wardrobe malfunctions then you would need to do as I described above :)
