vMix 15 with Instant Replay is finally here as an early preview!

UserPostedImage

This is an early preview, this means there will be bugs!
That said, all the functionality is there and this should give you a good idea of what to expect with the final release.

A new Instant Replay forum is now available, so discussion on individual features and bugs should be created as separate topics.

Download

http://www.vmixhd.com/download/vmix15.40.exe

Help

Some preliminary documentation is available here:
http://www.vmixhd.com/replayhelp/

System Requirements

Please familiarise yourself with the system requirements below:
http://www.vmixhd.com/replayhelp/SystemRequirements.html

These represent the minimum of what is supported, that means that while some functionality may work on slower systems
it will not be supported by us.

Editions and Pricing

Pricing is still subject to change but at this stage 1 Camera replay
will be included with vMix 4K, and 4 Camera replay will be available in a new edition
for approximately $1200 including vMix 4K.

During this preview phase, full four channel Instant Replay is available in
vMix Trial, HD and 4K up until 1st August 2015.

Release Date

Final release is expected early March, just in time for NAB 2015.
If you will be in the Las Vegas area you should plan to visit us as we will have an Instant Replay demo on display.

Regards,

Martin

OMG! I just tested it and it is freaking awesome! :D

Martin you're the best, it's in the current state already better than I expected it to be. Just WOW!

Interesting... Are there plans for a one channel HD or possibly an SD version of this software?

An update to the vMix 15 Instant Replay Preview has been posted.

http://www.vmixhd.com/download/vmix15.35.exe

Version 15.0.0.35
Additions
-New shortcuts: ReplaySelectPreviousEvent, ReplaySelectNextEvent, ReplayMoveSelectedInPoint (in frames), ReplayMoveSelectedOutPoint (in frames)
-Monitoring: Replay A and B can be displayed above the Instant Replay Controller alongside a quad view of the live camera sources.
-Camera angle selection for both A and B moved to a central panel in the controller
-Recording time remaining added to controller when recording

Changes
-Removed system checks
-Rearranged controller interface to hopefully a more logical layout
-Allowed copying events to the same event list so duplicates can be created (for multi angle replays)
-Dragging Replay In and Out columns now moves in half second intervals
-Dragging In or Out points will show the associated video in the preview.
-One click on an event moves the preview position to match
-Double click activates playback of an event

Fixes
-Prevent changing Replay B input
-Video Delay input Use Source Settings wasn't working
-Fixed infinite loop when adding Replay B as an overlay on Replay A
-Playing back all camera angles will only show angles that have been recorded
-Undocked audio mixer was empty on startup

Are there any reasons/advantages for non-instant-replay-users to update to version 15?

vMix 15 contains a couple of general updates that users might be interested in:

* Couple of new integrated streaming destinations (Ustream and Sunday Streams)
* [1],[2],[3] buttons added to Streaming Window to allow streaming to multiple destinations when using FFMPEG
* Two new category colours added (Blue and Aqua)

Hi Martin,

I noticed you said in your first post on Wednesday, 28 January:
Editions and Pricing
"Pricing is still subject to change but at this stage 1 Camera replay
will be included with (vMix 4K), and 4 Camera replay will be available in a new edition
for approximately $1200 including vMix 4K".

For us people that use vMix Basic, Basic HD, SD and HD and will NOT be using Instant Replay will there still be a normal version of 15 for us users? and will that have all the updates and improvements that vMix 15 with Instant Replay has?

Len.

Yes, vMix 15 will be an update for all versions just like prior versions.

It's just the new Instant Replay features that will be restricted to certain editions.

Hi Martin,

After playing a little bit with the Instant Replay function I have some questions:

As it might happen in many team sports broadcasting (with no human camera operator), there are a number of fixed cameras filming each side of the pitch. What if I have 4 cameras installed in my venue, each two filming one soccer goal; practically each two cameras filming one of the two sides of the soccer pitch. I would like to give an instant replay for what is happening on one side of the pitch (2 cameras only out of 4) so how should I proceed?
Basically, by clicking the "-5" Mark Out button I would like to give an instant replay of camera 1 and 2 for example, and not care about camera 3 and 4. By looking into the list of shortcuts I couldn't find a way. Is there a way that I can't see it?

The shortcut "ReplayMarkInOut" doesn't seem to work with any values set for the milliseconds timer.

Color selection of the camera angles to replay (from the Replay controller) doesn't seem to have a logic. By clicking the tab while holding down CTRL it seems to select the camera angles to play but the tabs change color randomly.

I see that you have fixed the replaying off all camera angles even if not all 4 cameras have a valid input.

It would be nice to find a way to send to output only some of the 4 camera angles (and also save only those) using maybe some additional shortcuts.

Sorry if I was to ignorant not to see the way to do it...

Thanks,

Emil.

Thanks for the update Martin.
Just had a quick test. We will be using the replay with a separate operator and monitor.

A few quick things:

1. I can't seem to get the new monitoring feature -Monitoring: Replay A and B can be displayed above the Instant Replay Controller alongside a quad view of the live camera sources to work? I push the monitor button but don't see any camera or replay?

2. When deleting an event. Can the pop up window move to the separate screen for separate controller to confirm rather than show on main vmix view

Thanks for adding remaining record time !!!

Bryan

We currently use VMIX as our replay solution only (we don't use any other function of VMIX) and we currently do 5 channels of replay with it. Is there any plans to support more than just 4 channels in this new Replay version?

Martin, I can't seem to get to 2nd base with the instant replay. When running the instant replay, I know I can click the -5 or -10 to create a clip of the last 5 or 10 seconds. I also can click the "quick play" button to play the last clip. However, I can't figure out how to access the list of "saved clips".

We use the Video Delay function with great success and it creates a list of saved clips.

I'm sure once I figure out the Instant Replay it will be sweet action but I seem to be hung up. How do I access the list of saved clips? The quick play button will play the "last clip" but I want to see the the whole list of saved clips (like the Video Delay list).

Thanks
Tim

There is a Instant Replay Symbol in the bottom right corner, click on it and the event list will open up.

Also, when doing our instant replays, we continue to use the main (current) master audio input. The documentation states that selecting "Main" will use the Master Audio at the time of the recording. Can you add an option for "None" so that the Master Audio is left on and the current Main Audio will continue to be used while the replay is played?

Thanks! I pulled it up to see the list. Maybe someone will make a Youtube video on using this feature. I think that I am trying to think of this the way I use the Video Delay function it is completely different. I just can't wrap my brain around the work flow and how it is supposed to function. Once the light goes off I will be fine but right now I seem to be clueless. We have a game tonight and I will just keep using the Video Delay until I get a handle on this new feature.

A video tutorial using some game footage saved on a camera would be a big help to those trying to figure it out. If I figure it out and nobody has made one, then I will do it.

Martin,
Used the new Instant Replay this past week for play off game. totally awesome!!

One bug is that the tags does not save. I did save my tags to a txt file so I can paste them back in after opening the program back up. I'm sure this is a bug you can easily fix. What would be really nice is to have "Tag Banks". (ie one for basketball, one for football, or whatever different event types you cover.

Also, the ability to use shortcuts to add particular tags to the "last replay clip".
