I was checking ebay and found some cheap videomixers that appear to have midi capabilities. I'm talking about the datavideo se-500. According to B&H they have: MIDI:, In and Out, on a Midi connector http://www.bhphotovideo....Production_Switcher.htmlIn the manual however I can only find information about the midi input of the videomixer (controlling the se-500 from a pc), but nothing about the output. Is B&H wrong? Or am I overlooking something? I think it would be kickass to use the se-500 together with the vMix Midi Mapper software that is available on this forum. Any veterans who used this mixer and can help me out? Thanks!

Not really, if we would go for a fader, it would be one that is integrated in a drumpad midi controller or something. Looking at this too at the moment: http://na.suzohapp.com/a...ving_controls/50-8115-00Together with a usb control board you can input this to the pc as a standard keyboard or a game controller. But if I can find a proper videomixer that outputs midi (not a roland, don't like the layout) it would be even more awesome ;)

I have a true T-Bar version but it's double the price due to cost of the T-Bar assembly which is an actual part used in switcher control panels. I personally like using the touch pad because I don't have to worry about configuring it ever time I change my layout or add one more element that exceeds the number of buttons on a hard surface controller. If anyone is interested I'm willing to negotiate price :-) Best of luck to you

For us it's not something we need in the near future anyway. I don't even think it will add a lot of functionality. That's why I want it cheap, maximum 500 euro for a nice looking panel with lots of bells and whistles.
I just know that for a 'good paying client', it has to look a bit more pro then a bunch of desktopmonitors, a few capture cards, a few small cams and a cheap tablet. That's why we now bought a few xha1's and are looking for some more 'pro' looking gear. Big buttons, shiny T-Bar, led lights, waveform monitors,..
It sounds stupid, and actually it's stupid because the results are the same, but people who pay a lot expect a lot of blingbling. That's the reason why so many wedding videographers buy a Sony HXR-MC2000E or a JVC GY-HM70E HD, it's the looks :)
The SE-500 has the look that we're after, would be nice if we get it working ;)

i have a nice datavideo se-500 set here in my office. complete with monitor and quad view. had a talk at ibc this september here to see what i can do with it. seems there is still a market for this kind of sd sets.
if i can use it with vmix would be great. i will contact datavideo again to see what the possibilities are for using the rs232 interface.
i especially bought this set because customers want and expect something they can understand when they order a video recording. the datavideo set is a compact and nice all in one system. would be nice to give it a second life.
