we use Vmix /adobe flash media/ red 5 server / what hardware do i need to do to broadcast to mobile? advice please we want to be our own CDN

Gene, I don't think hardware is your issue rather it is the Red5 Server. As far as I am aware it only outputs flash streams so most mobiles will not see the stream. You need a Server that will transcode into HTML5/AAC. I suggest you sign up with a CDN rather than try to host yourselves. Dacast.com is cost effective and you can put your streams behind a paywall. A number of other Speedway tracks do this.

You need RTSP or HLS for mobile.

There is a lot out there that can do this for you such as Wowza, FMS and Nginx RTMP.

we started with red5 as well, but decided against it quite quickly.

from experience i know you'll never be done programming if you want to be your own CDN.
I've gone up this route and will continue on it, but can't say it's an easy thing to do.
(especially when your streams start to get popular and you need 10s of gbps to host them, and want to service any mobile device out there)
servicing flash clients is quite easy, but recoding lower bandwidths etc and generating streams for mobile devices isn't
