I’d like to share TallyCommz, a tool we built for our own live productions. It puts live tally and intercom on every crew member’s phone. There are no beltpacks or tally lights, and no app to install: the crew opens a sign-in link in the phone’s browser, puts on headphones and they’re on the show.
How it works with vMix
A small app, the TallyCommz Bridge, runs on the vMix PC or on any Mac or PC on the same network. It finds vMix by itself through vMix’s TCP API (port 8099).
Every camera input (capture, NDI, SRT, video call) becomes a tally button with vMix’s own number and name. You can tick more inputs, like a video or a screen share.
Red means on air and green means in preview.
Cameras inside a picture in picture or overlay light up too. A camera on air only as a small layer gets a KEY tag.
Recording, streaming and Fade to Black show on every phone.
What the crew gets
🔴🟢 Tally: their camera card turns red or green, with the switcher’s input names.
🎧 Intercom: channels like Production, Cameras and Audio. Hold to talk or tap to lock, solo a channel, and set each volume.
📺 Big Tally: every camera on one screen, on a phone or the control-room TV, no sign-in needed.
💬 Chat: for everyone, per channel or one-to-one, with one-tap answers.
🎯 Cues: the director sends STANDBY, WIDE or CLOSE UP to a camera and sees ✓ seen. On vMix, cues only go to real cameras.
📞 Calls: bring someone to your channel, or call them privately.
🎤 Talent links: presenters listen in through a private link.

It works with ATEM switchers too, and one Bridge can run several switchers.
Bridge 0.1.16 arrives on 1 November and adds the full crew screen on the Bridge computer.
The first month is free for 2 crew members and 1 Bridge, no card needed.
