Hi,
this sounds interesting. I won't be able to play around with this in the upcoming week or two, and I could not find any further information anywhere. But I have some questions, maybe vMix or someone else can give some feedback:

- what is the delay vs having a Decklink in the vmix pc itself? I wonder about lip-sync when mixing this.
- it should work with any v4l linux video i/O? so if I just want to grab some HDMI out at some other place I could use a mini-PC with a camlink adapter somewhere instead of a NDI encoder in case I'm short of those?
- Can I use the HDMI out of the computer as output (i.e. for confidence monitors on stage)?
- Will it also work with Audio I/O? i.e. a focusrite interface connected to the pc?

If this proves to be a robust solution the reference system might be a great tool, but also pretty expensive and limited in its use cases - not usable for anything else without a GPU, and no NDI limits it to be used with vmix). So I'd be really interested in the flexibility when just creating a bootable live-Linux USB key and being able to use any decent mini pc with HDMI Outs, maybe a focusrite if needed for Audio I/O, and a Camlink 4k or a Blackmagic Ultrastudio Recorder to route some signals via the network.

Thanks

Hi,

The delay is less than one from to encode-transmit-decode, so it should not be noticeable.

In regards to v4l2 support, if you are looking to just use a single USB capture device, then something like this is much more cost effective:
https://github.com/openmediatransport/omtcapture

vMix IO is intended for multi input capture cards, as it is more cost effective to have two computers than building the high end motherboard/cpu needed to support multiple capture cards.

The GPU HDMI out cannot be used, but if the capture card has HDMI output capabilities that can be used instead.

vMix IO does not support audio interfaces, as these are much better plugged into the main vMix computer directly.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Martin
