Hello vMix Team,

This is a feature request to integrate the **NMR AAC encoder** available in modern FFmpeg builds as a selectable audio encoder option within vMix.

NMR AAC is the noise-masking-ratio optimized AAC implementation in FFmpeg. It provides superior subjective audio quality at the same bitrate versus the legacy AAC-LC encoder, especially valuable for live streaming over SRT, RTMP and TS workflows used in broadcast.

Our live production workflow requires high audio fidelity at constrained audio bitrates. Right now vMix only exposes standard AAC-LC for FFmpeg output. Enabling NMR AAC as an extra option would help many broadcast and live streaming users.

Would it be possible to add NMR AAC to the audio encoder dropdown in future vMix updates?

Thank you for your hard work on vMix.

FFmpeg 9.0 was just branched and is due to be released soon. The encoder rewrite was too late for 9.0, but will be included as part of 9.1.
Metric comparisons and listening tests can be found here, and feedback can be left there too:

Until it's implemented you could run your own stand alone ffmpeg and use the vmix output as a source. I know not as sexy as you wish but it could bridge the gap.
