I built an iOS app that turns an iPhone into an OMT camera source for vMix. As far as I can tell it's the first OMT camera app on the App Store, so I wanted to share it here in case it's useful.

It shows up automatically in the OMT source list — no IP config, just discovery on the LAN. It streams HD up to 4K, supports multi-lens zoom (0.5x / 1x / 2x), quality hot-switch while live, a tally indicator with torch feedback for the talent, and thermal management so it doesn't throttle during long sessions.

Free on the App Store 👉: OMTake on the App Store

I'd be glad to hear what vMix users think, especially anyone currently using NDI camera apps — what works, what's missing, what you'd want from an OMT source. Happy to answer any technical questions about OMT vs NDI from the iOS side.

I've just published a short demo (1:15) showing OMTake in action with vMix:

OMTake — iPhone as a wireless OMT camera for vMix

It covers the full workflow: open the app, add an OMT source in vMix, and the iPhone shows up automatically on the network — no IP address to type. Also shows multi-lens zoom, the tally light with torch feedback, live quality switching, and how thermal management keeps the stream broadcast-safe on long sessions.

Since the last update, v1.3 also brought persistent settings and smoother stop/restart.

As always, feedback is very welcome — especially on what you'd like to see next. A few features already on the list: separate exposure/focus controls, configurable white balance, and orientation lock.

OMTake on the App Store (free, fully functional)
